A tranquil wildlife reserve in the centre of London, with great opportunities for bird watching. The centre also houses two otters. Nice cafe.

The otter enclosure is closed for maintenance so check if that’s something you want to see. It’s on the website and well signed No bittern but our life membership - we started on annual - helps conservation and nothing paid today. You wouldn’t think you are in London. Want somewhere to walk around - accessible paths, free parking and staff and volunteers happy to give information. Want more serious birding but can’t get out of London or want to make the most of the time available to you there are different habitats and go through the collection to the Wildside and it’s more wild. We’ve seen bittern, who’d have thought in London. Not today but we heard water rail and saw half a dozen grey herons. It’s expensive, (but is it really?) for a single visit but check out membership. A visit in each season and it pays for itself and you support conservation.
