Excellent facilities and helpful, friendly staff.

Everyone at the hotel was pleasant and helpful. Location was excellent for walking to most things. The only issue I feel should be addressed is having longer shower curtains. The curtain was so short that it created a flood in the bathroom every time and we needed to have them replace the towels daily because of this.

Stayed in the hotel on Friday night, Rory in the restaurant/bar & breakfast was absolutely fantastic and made the trip for myself & my family. Exceptional service and a credit to the hotel! The bedroom was well equipped and had everything prepared for us. The food in the restaurant was also excellent. It was entirely a wonderful stay.

The Clayton Belfast offers an excellent downtown Belfast location within walking distance to important landmarks, buses and taxis. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Europa bus centre and Victoria Train station. That's a real advantage. The hotel itself is a bit long in the tooth but the rooms are quiet and comfortable. The bed is excellent. And better still, the thermostat worked well and was easy to use. Very good on those cold Belfast January nights! The buffet breakfast was adequate though not very imaginative. It offered all the typical Irish breakfast fare with eggs, sausages, ham and toast. Plus other pastries. Coffee, tea and cereals. So, it was quite complete. The hotel staff was always helpful and polite. I recommend the Clayton as it is a good value for the money compared to the Europa which is a lot more expensive, or other downtown hotels that might offer more but cost a lot more. I'll be back to the Clayton.

The self-service check-in was quick and easy to use. I received a free upgrade to an executive room on the 7th floor, which was large and comfortable. Sometimes in the morning the water wasn't very hot, and there was an occasional but very loud water gurgling noise from above the ceiling near the door to inside the room.. I think the noise only happened when the heating was on, it wasn't frequent but was very loud, as if somebody had pulled the plug out of a swimming pool. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the service was quick, with reasonable prices.

Good location and spacious rooms but service and standards let this hotel down. Original room had no hot water, moved rooms to a room that smelt of chemicals which made me feel uncomfortable staying there . Third and final room had a big stain on the carpet and smelt of sick on the mattress. By this point I bedded down for the night as luckily only staying one night. Wouldn’t return and found the staff didn’t have a very good attitude when changing rooms, surely hot water isn’t too much to ask for. Saying that another staff member on reception was polite and some other staff very friendly
