Passing through the country lanes of Cheshire you can view the Castle on top of the Peckforton Hills from quite a distance away, be it that the surrounding forest hides all but a small part. As you turn off the lane and pass through the magnificent gate house, your journey is almost complete but the amazing experience continues. The meandering driveway takes you through the forest which in itself is of special scientific interest and then suddenly through the trees appears a large but beautiful fairytale castle. Originally the home of Lord Tollemache and built in the early 19th Century the Hotel is the only intact medieval style Castle in the country. Over the years the Castle has been the location for numerous movies including Robin Hood, Sherlock Holmes, Dr Who and more recently Coronation Street. The stunning exterior has now been complimented by a lovingly refurbished interior which houses 48 bedrooms and truly magnificent entertaining rooms.
Peckforton Castle holds monthly open evenings given you the opportunity to meet with our wedding coordinators and view the castle function rooms beautifully dressed. Please see our events calender on our website for further details

A lovely place to stay and a really interesting venue for a company away day. The food in the restaurant was excellent as was the service for the meal. I thought the restaurant prices were pretty reasonable. Starters were from £8-£11 and the most expensive main was the beef featherblade at £22 (this is from memory so apologies for any mistakes). The castle itself is beautiful and home to the Land River experience centre which is great fun and made for an excellent team building event.

I went with a friend for a Land Rover off-road experience. I was so taken with the location that I remained in the grounds of the castle. I don't know about the rooms or inside the castle but their grounds are lovely and peaceful. Hopefully, I will get to experience the inside next time.

We enjoyed an amazing night at the castle. The staff are amazing and very attentive. Meal sizes at the Brasserie were huge and very good value. The breakfast was very filling and enjoyable. The room was luxurious with a well appointed bathroom. Even the weather held out to give us a great day. Thanks for a great experience, it exceeded my expectations of an English castle stay!

I was given a Sunday dinner voucher. Staff couldn't do enough to help my 90 year old mum on the chair lift. Made sure we had a table with plenty of room around it. I was allowed to park the car outside the main entrance . Lovely meal and setting. And friendly helpfull staff.

The building itself is remarkable. To all intents and purposes it’s a real castle but it was built much later. The outside entrance and grounds are well manicured. Inside the place is clean on the surface but the amount of dust that comes off the soft furnishings is pretty bad. Pat a chair in the lounge behind reception and a cloud of dust comes off, same with the heavy drapes in our room. I needed an inhaler for the first time in six months whilst in the room so if you have the slightest dust allergies then be prepared. This place is dusty! We dined in the evening and the food was really well presented. The staff in the dining room were nice and pleasant too although the already high prices are further loaded with a ten percent service fee when you get your bill. Overall it’s well worth a visit. The place is enormous and must take a huge amount of maintenance. We visited in April and so I expect it will be better staffed and cleaned as the season progresses. As a castle and wedding venue it’s impressive, as a hotel, it needs to up its game sadly.
