I have absolutely fallen in love with this place! The lodge's proximity to the cathedral, parking, town first off is incredible, everything is in walking distance. (Parking in cathedral area is £10 per day). The room was a good size, had a lush window nook with a view of the central garden. It had everything we needed/might need and was clean and warm. The lodge has a lovely restaurant area and the breakfast was fab - plenty of options and my allergies were easily catered for. There's a private garden with an amazing cathedral view, a lounge area and a water station. Next up, staff. Couldn't be more friendly and helpful. As well as the normal service, I happened to need ice for a swollen ankle, got that in minutes. My partner proposed, they were congratulatory and had a staff member help and take photos for us. Super helpful. You can get discounts at local restaurants and the cathedral shop and free access to the cathedral too (cathedral entrance is £17 per adult). We will 100% be back again!

Just completing another stay at this great hotel. Always a warm welcome. They have some the best front office staff in the business. Many 5* hotels would benefit from such a great team. The room, whether twin or king size, are clean and comfortable. Excellent heating in winter months. Windows that open in the summer. Plenty of very hot water available all day. Breakfast is served in the refectory. A wide choice of ingredients both continental and cooked. All usually served with a smile and in a timely fashion. There are some good restaurants in reasonably close proximity and the Marlowe Theatre is around 10 minutes walk away. Our next visit is already planned and booked.

Had a southeastern trains conference here , the place was pretty awesome, loads of wood in the structure which made it feel comfortable. Chairs were not good though as each one is bolted to its neighbour, I don't like people sitting on my lap. Good for team building, bad for those that like their space.
