A 16th Century coaching inn right opposite Jane Austen's House; The Greyfrair could hardly muster more history if it tried. In the chocolate-box village of Chawton; this lovely old pub serves up delicious home-made food; fine ale and a beautiful garden to enjoy it in.

I was NOT expecting this level food from this pub’s outward appearance. Just goes to show, can’t judge book by its cover… but maybe its Google review?! Not your usual pie and chips pub. Delicious and well presented. Friendly and helpful staff. We sat inside which felt like the dark dingy pub it looks from the outside, but truly the food and people made up for it!!

We had a really delicious lunch on Easter Saturday. Really innovative and varied food, particular recommendations on the scotch egg, the crispy chicken burger and the toppled flowerpot dessert. Lovely attentive staff and a nice atmosphere. Would recommend!

Visited for Sunday lunch, all the food was excellent. Well presented hot and very flavourful. Table of 6 not one complaint. Love the decor, have been back since just for a drink in the garden. All the staff are friendly and good selection of ales.
