Stayed 2 nights for our 41st anniversary. Welcomed with a card in the room from the Barony castle Hotel Team . We would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends. The stay was enjoyable from start to finish. Room lovely bar lounge and restaurant lovely and breakfast excellent. Staff are very pleasant and hard working . The surroundings are beautiful . Plenty of walks with our dog which was made very welcome . Definitely will visit again ☺ .

Lovely place for short breaks and touring the Scottish borders

Very tired, our room was quite dirty in places. We had a suite for a special occasion. Half the furniture was missing, what was there was either inadequate, uncomfortable or so battered it needed to be skipped. Broken window frames, unable to close properly, flaking paint, spiders and cobwebs all over the windows obviously not cleaned regularly. (Really large spider camping out next to the loo 😱) Wall paper peeling off in places. One window blind broken. Somewhat stingy with the kettle provisions, and many more issues. Was not anywhere near the advertised standard. When we complained the next morning there was no apology, merely told that they knew of some of the issues and the room was being refurbished the following month... and yet they were quite happy to take full price knowing the state it was in. Complained by email to management, the issue of knowingly renting out that room at full price in the poor standard seemed to be completely lost on their staff and pretty much got the same reply back. Will not be back. On the plus side the bed was very comfy and the linen felt like high quality.

My husband and I had a two night stay in August 2021 to celebrate my birthday. It was excellent. Friendly staff, great ambience in the lounge and bar area and comfortable furniture. The castle gardens are nice for a gentle stroll. The Polish Map of Scotland in the grounds is very interesting. The spa offers very relaxing treatments and the wee swimming pool is very inviting.

The place was so clean & tidy. Staff from every department were very friendly & went out of their way to help if required. The meals were absolutely amazing, set out well and always piping hot. The pool was spotless and was a great size. I would definitely recommend anyone to go here. I for 1 will be back. Great stay & great company as all the guests were friendly too.
