Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Village of Flimwell on the East Sussex border with Kent, Flimwell Park has been designed to connect people with its woodland surroundings. The aim is to enhance the wellbeing of the community that will live, work and visit us, whether that will be to work in one of our all-timber workspaces, enjoy lunch at our restaurant-café, walk in our woodland, or host a function.
The primary event space, the Focal Building, is a large timber frame structure with external corten steel accents. Often described as a wooden cathedral, the Focal Building offers up to 330m2 of open plan space with dedicated toilet facilities. Hire of the Focal building includes access to the ancient woodland and the on-site restaurant, Birchwood, can offer catering at an additional cost. The site has 10 subterranean Lodges that can be hired, which comfortably sleeps two but as many as three per Lodge.

Fantastic set of traffic lights, possible the best in Kent! Where to begin? Let’s start with location... They are the first set of lights you come to as you head southbound on the A21 from London. They are in fact exactly 24.1 miles from the M25. The sequence I hear you say... Heading South, Heading South with West filter lane, Heading North, Heading North with East filter lane, Heading West, Then last but not least heading East. Duration next! These clever little lights are variable lights depending on traffic. Be patient and enjoy your wait because during peak times you may be waiting up to 3 mins 50 seconds for your turn! Off peak this drops to 1 min 48 seconds between turns. If patience isn’t your thing then come at night as then they are controlled by radar and your wait will be minimum - often under 10 seconds. And no traffic light review wouldn’t be complete without some info for pedestrians... Good news there is a helpful green man / red man crossing on the North side of the crossroads. Again the wait it as above so be patient. Safety doesn’t have a holiday and neither do these lights. In the 7 years I’ve been lucky enough to use them they have never missed a beat, come rain or shine, snow or sleet they are shining there warm welcoming lights every day and every night. My children even used these very lights to learn about red for stop and green for go - they are a little young to get the point of Amber - although essentially I said it means the same as green! It is a dangerous fast crossing so if you do visit the lights, be careful and don’t dawdle. I would suggest parking in the The Royal Oak Pub car park which is a short 150 meter walk to view the lights. Stay safe.
