My first visit to Portman Road in over 55 years. It was great. Superb atmosphere, good facilities including, toilets catering etc. Nice to see lots of families. Will be going again. Must have been a day in a lifetime for the the Maidstone fans.

Saw a good game, Car / Bus Park short distance away but walkable, if weather's wet gets a bit grimy. Pub (Weatherspoons) walkable but 20 minute walk away, serves Weatherspoons menu and good range of drinks alcoholic and non alcoholic. Clean streets which is always appreciated. In the ground, bit tight in between rows of seats, but on the whole nice to see a ground standing the test of time.

The ground is close to the train station and easy to find. The staff are good, and it was nice to have vegan options. They have done up the outside of the ground, but inside, it is a bit of a dump. Concourse is a tight series of different areas. There was a lot of muck on the back of the seats, and everything looked dirty. You're also packed in.

Shambolic sums up the away end of Portman Road. Along with " Welcome back to 1974" First, the good point is the Suffolk Constabulary. They were excellent and had a sense of humour, especially given how poor the stewards were. The Plouce asked us all to queue on the pavement as the turnstiles were late opening.10 minutes later, Hi Viz Heroes turned up and made us all stand in the road whilst they put out crowd barriers. Most clubs have these out well before away fans arrive, not as they queue to get in. Shambolic and bad tempered as well. Things didn't improve once we got in. Yellow hi viz sent us to wrong seats and then orange hi viz to another. Both blamed each other. The Police were shaking their heads in disbelief. The worst bit is the view. Do not - do not buy any tickets above row row R - we were on row X but the view is the same down to row S. Asbestos roof - hence back to 1974. It's a shame as Ipswich is a decent club but they need to review their stewards and the away experience.
