Where do I begin? I entered the club on Saturday the 14th of March after paying 40 pounds in cash to get in, which I thought was a rip off, but I did not mind if the experience would have been nice. I was invited by my friends to enter the VIP section. At around 1.30-2.00 am my friends left the VIP section to go home. I did not have a table nor knew about the table policy and was waiting for another friend to get me a drink. I was approached by a rude bouncer who asked if I had a table to which I responded I was invited there by my friends. Now I understand if because I did not have a table and was misinformed about it, I may have had to leave. But the man physically started dragging me and forcing me out which was unnecessary - he could have simply asked and I would have respected that!! I asked him to stop touching me and after leaving the VIP section, I was left infuriated (not because I was asked to leave, but the manner in which this was conducted). I asked the name of the bouncer to bring it up with the manager, but he refused to give me his name. More precisely he told me "it is none of my business". If you don't take my word for it, check the security footage. You can clearly see that the bouncer asking me something and the next thing he is dragging me out. I am a respected scholar and pinnacle in my field of research. I want the manager to address this - if not I will escalate the matter.

Our table was cancelled based on us being apparently dressed “too casual”. However, they let others in that were not dressed as well as we were. I really don’t want to pull the race card but it seemed that too many of us were black. We managed to persuade them and they proceeded to say that the ratio of boy to girl was unbalanced. The problems and excuses kept coming and coming and it was obvious that they didn’t want us to be there. When we said that the rest of our group was on their way, they told us they had given our table away, which was odd because none of us told them to cancel the table. I used to love Cuckoo, and I would tell all my friends about the amazing nights I had there in the past, for my 18th birthday etc. But it seems that it has changed since then; the way it’s run, and the employees that work at the front. I really wouldn’t recommend this club to anyone again, as we were treated very poorly. Furthermore, I would recommend Tape, Scotch or any other club above cuckoo.
