My friend and I booked an overnight spa package as a little getaway to switch off. We arrived just after 12pm. Check-in wasn’t until 3pm so we were going to see if we could use the pool until then, but they had a room ready so kindly let us check in early. The room was so lovely! The bed was huge (and super comfy), as was the TV. Tea, coffee, water, biscuits, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were all provided! As well as an iron and hair dryer. After checking in we went for some lunch and a drink at the bar, we opted for the nachos and had one of their peach cocktails which were both enjoyable. We made use of the spa facilities which included a pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna! There was nothing to fault here😊 Our spa package included the use of a robe, towel and slippers too which was great. We also had the choice of a treatment, to which we both chose facials. It was my first time having a spa treatment and it was amazing. Apologies but I have forgotten the name of the therapist I had but she was wonderful, made my first time feel comfortable, took the time to ask me about my skin and what I was looking to get out of the treatment. She made use of the full 55 minute treatment as advertised and even gave me a product wish list at the end of all the products she used and recommended for my skin. My friend unfortunately didn’t receive the same experience, and hers didn’t last the full 55 minutes. Later on in the evening we had a 3 course meal provided as part of our package. The food and service were both great, and staff allowed us to take our bottle of wine back to our room. Breakfast the following day was also provided on our package and it had a huge variety of cooked and continental options. The lady who greeted us at breakfast was so lovely (didn’t catch her name). She asked how we were and when we asked how she was she was pleasantly shocked/surprised as she rarely gets asked. Before leaving we made use of the spa facilities again. Overall a really nice getaway. A beautiful hotel, beautiful scenery and great staff/service☺️

Nice location, room had a view of the golf course, and a terrace (shared), although the patio door only has a curtain and no nets, so if you want to lounge about in your trolleys with the window or curtains open be aware that you will be flashing to the passing golfers. Reception staff helpful, good spa, although trying to find it is impossible as the signage is non-existant. Breakfast ok but nothing special. Food extremely expensive. £12 for a small bowl of nachos. Cocktails extortionate for what you get at £15 each, which is more than you pay at Gaucho in the centre of Cardiff where they are personally prepared. Really tired place - yes it's a lovely old building but it's just been left to rot really - the ceiling of the ground floor corridor where our room was was black with mould. The rooms themselves are very expensive for what you get. The worst thing was that we had a deluxe double room that had an adjoining door and you could hear every single thing that the neighbour was saying throughout he night, and when they closed their door the adjoining door would bang really loudly. I wouldn't stay here again.

We played golf as visitors on the Course. Good points are green fee, friendly staff member in Pro Shop and ease of booking. Bad points. Course was scruffy and not tended in a number of places. It took 5.25 hours! The reason given was members competition in front. So I presume members take 5.25 hours per competition? The price of food was extremely high. 12 pounds for a sandwich. Don't eat here. Go to pub to eat then play. The food service was slow too, had to ask where our food order was. Overall some interesting holes but some were uninspiring. Overall not the experience thought it would be.

Wouldn’t recommend this hotel, first I accidentally left my trainers in room 5 days prior, I have been chasing and chasing to find out if they have them but get no response, they take my details and never call back. Then more recently had to change room due to the ceilings being very thin in the rooms near the lakeside area, some ones kid constant jumping around. Requested to change room At 11pm as I had enough, new room toilet didn’t flush. Sent a complaint email to the manager about this stay and also my request to find my trainers and have had no response. Terrible service I will have to find another place to stay as I work in the area for several days each month. Avoid if you are not there to play golf.
