Sitting pretty in a grand art deco ante-room of a former hotel, The Resting Hare (sister to Euston Tap among others) is a hoppy haven for craft ale fans. Its padded horseshoe bar harbours various draught German beers, jostling for space with British and American ales: Trinity by Redemption, Harpoon’s Take 5 Session IPA (from Massachusetts), and Sussex Brewer Gun’s ‘vegan’ pale ale, for example. Alternatively, bag a comfy booth, or a table on a terrace overlooking charming Woburn Walk – London’s first pedestrianised shopping street, designed by Thomas Cubitt – and soak up Aperol Spritz, Negroni or White Russian (£6.50). Fairly priced wines (including semi-sparkling Italian ‘frizzante’ on tap) make admirable partners to food that encompasses burgers from a Josper grill, vegetable kebabs creole-style, salads, sharing platters, and snacks such as panko-crumbed calamari (£5.50). Puddings come courtesy of Fleet River Bakery – another venture by The Hare’s owners, Bloomsbury Leisure Group.
