This used to be a charming cafe with a wide range of options for meals and also cakes. It now appears to have a very limited offer of mainly sandwiches and doughnuts….. all displayed in open view with no sneeze guard. No crockery either, just disposable cups. I suppose it used to be quite smart too but now it’s just an extension of what’s on offer round the corner at Borough Market where Bread Ahead already have a business. Not a change for the better.

We had afternoon tea at The Southwark Cathedral Cafe when we visited London in 2018, and we can't wait to go back when we visit again this Christmas. The environment was quaint and quiet and the tea, sandwiches, scones and cake were just lovely. This place is a hidden gem, tucked near the Thames in a quiet alcove, creating a refuge from the busy city surrounding it. I also love the fact that the cafe supports keeping the cathedral open. Prices are modest and the food is wonderful. I highly recommend this cafe!
