City Stalwart Caravaggio has been organising Christmas parties for years. The swanky Italian restaurant, set in an art-deco former banking hall, has a long marble-topped bar, lofty ceilings and all the glamour of a 1930s ocean liner, underscored with bundles of Italian savoir faire. If it’s a festive feast you’re after, the mezzanine seats 80 diners and can also be divided to accommodate smaller groups of between 20 and 50. The main space accommodates around 250 guests for a standing reception or 140 for sit down affairs. There’s also plenty of room for a live band or a DJ to play all of the yuletide classics and keep the party going.

January 2024Very nice upscale fine dining in the city center. Visiting Lloyds of London Broker in the UK and they took us to this place. The food was very good, although I could only try fish and shrimp. Tried fried Cod with purple potatoes, and it was tasty. Service was prompt and fast. Very nice interior with coat service etc.

March 2024Had lunch at this quintessential Italian restaurant in the heart of the city. They have a great lunchtime set menu in the £20-30 range, which is very good value. The spinach soup with croutons was delightful - the right consistency, full of flavour. The lamb and vegetable main was also good - just a tad on the smaller side. Staff were friendly; it’s just that at peak lunch hour we had to wait a little to order and for the food. Nice modern interior, and the restaurant is in a very central, accessible location - would definitely recommend a visit for lunch - the food is good, wine list is broad and the menu is excellent value. Recommended
