Planned by Robert Adam at the height of his career, The Georgian House, in Edinburgh's sophisticated Charlotte Square, provides a fascinating insight into fashionable society life in 18th- and 19th-century Scotland.
Furnished with an exquisite collection of period furniture, porcelain and silver, the gracious first floor Drawing Room overlooks Charlotte Square Gardens, home to Edinburgh's International Book Festival, and offers an idyllic setting for weddings and corporate entertaining.

The Georgian House's stylish surroundings are perfect for intimate civil, religious and humanist wedding ceremonies, where you and your guests can sip champagne in the elegance of the Drawing Room, surrounded by beautiful paintings and with magnificent views over Charlotte Square, before venturing into the city for fine dining and dancing.

We had a one hour tour and then about 45 minutes more exploring the house after that finished. We'll worth a visit but could probably learn as much from each room guide as by taking the guided tour.

A wonderful venue to spend a couple of hours. Start with the informative and introductory quarter-hour film about the residents of #7 Charlotte Square. Then enjoy a self-guided tour throughout the townhouse where the docents can answer questions and provide visitors with illuminating and entertaining history, pointing out features of each room.
