The 12 elegant and stylish meeting rooms are bright, airy and elegantly furnished and can accommodate up to 250 delegates theatre style and 180 for a banquet or dinner dance.

If you are searching for a quirky venue, full of character for a conference, meeting or private dinner, then the Wine Cellars are ideal. Legend has it that these eerie old caves, deep in the heart of the hotel, were once used by smugglers to hide their booty; now carefully restored they provide a wonderful, atmospheric backdrop for private parties.

Dating back in parts to 1559, The Old Ship Hotel is the oldest hotel in Brighton and stands proud on the bustling seafront in this popular British destination.
From its magnificent white façade to contemporary modern reception area, the Hotel prides itself on excellent customer service in comfortable relaxed surroundings.

The largest suite in the hotel is the spectacular Paganini Ballroom, which dates back to the 17th century, and is the oldest meeting room in Brighton.

Message In A Bottle!
The iconic 154 room Old Ship Hotel in Brighton is excited to announce a new exciting look for its outdoor terrace, which boasts a prime sea-front location.
Brighton’s most historic hotel has decked the terrace out with stunning new furniture in preparation for the summer months.
This is THE place to have a drink and watch the world go by, with singers performing live music every weekend during the summer.
Not only will it look good, it will further enhance the eco-friendly credentials of the hotel as it’s entirely made from recycled plastic bottles.
Each chair alone is made from over 500 bottles, definitely a very green “Message in a Bottle” to shout about to your clients!

As the name suggest this room is in the Tudor style with exposed beams and a large fireplace directly opposite the entrance. This room is situated below the Paganini Room. Access to the room is either via the Ship Street entrance or access is available via the Hotel carpark. This room is ideal for a break out room from either the Paganini or Gresham.

Easy to find right on seafront, hard to park nearby but for £25 per night you can book to have your car in the hotels garage down the side of building behind locked shutters. Looked up hotel prior and was excited to use the outdoor terrace, see live music but neither of these were available - must be a summer only thing? :( Still, Loved the general feel, spaces, bar etc Fantastic desk staff very attentive and efficient. Room wasn't like the photos which showed bigger room for the booking i made and paid for, so it was a little disappointing to find it was small but it was pleasant enough and spotless ! The bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately both myself and my partner burnt our shoulder/arm on the radiator in the bathroom as it's awkwardly placed I guess and narrow in there? Overall we were comfortable and happy, we only stayed one night so didn't get to Look around the building much but very happy with the ground floor facilities and location is fab

On the face, a tired 1920s hotel with splendid views of Brighton seafront. With an old revolving art deco entrance, it’s 1920 lift with push buttons and an old leather chair where Churchill one sat, this hotel breathes age but not in a good way. The rooms are large, clean, warm and comfortable but really outdated and tired decor and furnishings. Really surprised by the crack in the wall, the peeling paper from the ceiling. If you look beyond that though you receive the splendid charm the hotel has to offer. The bathroom was well equipped with a nice hotel - albeit temperamental shower - clean fresh towels. Rooms bit noisy due to building standards during the 20s (hear people walking about upstairs) and traffic noise but they provide quality earplugs! Breakfast was yummy with a full range of hot and cold options. Very well presented and high quality ingredients. The staff are very helpful and that really defines what the hotel is about - service. Upon arrival we didn’t like our room so rather than usual hassle you have with hotels around availability, the manager of this hotel took the time to show us three rooms and we could choose the one we preferred. In terms of service I felt like a guest in a B&B rather than a two hundred room hotel. You can’t underrate that. This brings me to the ultimate question - what defines a good hotel experience? For me it’s a comfortable bed (5 stars here really comfortable bed), good attentive service with an eagerness to fix when things wrong (5 stars here). Good food, bar and breakfast (5 stars again). Clean room (5 stars). Finally a hot powerful shower (4 stars for my room). The room decor is only a small part of it really but really does need to be upgraded desperately in most rooms. If you’re looking for the wow factor, don’t stay here. If you’re looking a nice attentive hotel experience where you are looked after and get a good night sleep, this may be the place for you. Would I come back? Yes!

They have to have been paying people for good reviews. This hotel is a dilapidated, mouldy mess of a place. You can do a whole lot better absolutely anywhere else. The hotel in general is very run down, with flaking walls, awful decor, and clearly hasn't been updated since the 40s (and not in a charming way). It feels like the set for a horror movie - and (in my opinion) after the fire at the Albion Hotel nearby I'd be very wary of the safety of this place. They don't appear to put any effort into the upkeep of the building. I went for a 2-night staycation to relax undisturbed by the world. I'm not a fussy person, but the first room they sent me to was so musty that asthma kicked in immediately (after about a year of not having it). They moved me to a better room, which I appreciated, but I was then woken up on the first morning - despite the Do Not Disturb sign - by housekeeping expecting me to have left - because the hotel had accidentally changed my registration to one night during the room move. This is NOT a 4-Star hotel; it's a musty old strange place with one foot in the grave. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!

Room was so dirty that I had an asthma attack all night and couldn't sleep despite taking all my medicines double. First time in 15 years. The single glazing brings in a lot of cold wind and noise from outside. Windows are dirty and rotting. Knobs were missing on the tap, stains on carpet, broken lamps, molt in the bed room. Everything is outdated. The bed was old but clean. You could smell the dust in the whole hotel. I would recommend a new vacuum cleaner with hepa filter and a proper ventilation system in each bath room.
