I recently stayed at Holiday Inn Camden Lock when visiting for a concert at The Roundhouse. The location of the hotel is fantastic, and due to our IHG Diamond Status, we were upgraded to a Lock View room, which had the most fantastic view over Camden Lock and the canal. The rooms were comfortable and had everything you would need for an enjoyable stay. It’s not the most modern Holiday Inn I’ve stayed in, but it is well looked after and very clean. We had breakfast at the hotel the following morning, and I was impressed with the quality and the selection of breakfast items on offer. The hot food was all hot, and there was a great selection of breads, pastries, cereals, fruits and also a pancake machine. The thing that sets the hotel apart from other IHG properties I’ve stayed in whilst visiting London is the staff. Everyone we came into contact with was incredibly friendly, efficient and only too happy to help. Nothing was too much to trouble and they were always wanting to help. Overall we had a great stay at the Holiday Inn Camden Lock, and if needing to stay in Camden I would certainly book again.

Very nice location, can't criticise the prices for being in London and right on Camden Markets. The rooms are nice, service very good and facilities good also. There's a convenient car park across the road that seems to be a secret but can be found on Just Park. My one regret with almost all hotels is the poor quality of bedding. Lumpy unsupportive pillows and tog20 duvets in a heated building are just disappointing and make you feel they don't think enough about a guest's experience.

I'm really hoping I just had extraordinarily bad luck and that this place isn't so bad but this was hands down the worst hotel experience I've ever had by MILES. Room: I arrived to the hotel an hour or so earlier than check-in and was gladly told by reception he had a double room available that he would give me at no extra charge! The dresser and desk were all very beat up all covered in sticky little drops of an unknown white substance all over the surfaces. I had to take a video work call so I grabbed some toilet paper and cleaned for a few minutes to get some of the goop off. There was one sad tiny window for the room with a view of the building's exhaust. The room was very dark, even at the brightest time of day. The TV was old and tiny. The floors were dirty looking (maybe just old?) and the room smelled like a musty moldy vodka with a splash of fish. I was dead tired from a long flight and since it was just a work trip I thought "whatever it's just a couple days, I'll deal with it." Electrical: While I was taking the call, a fuse broke and all the power outlets stopped working. I called the front desk and the breaker was flipped back on but the maintenance man told me it was my power converter. Never had that issue before. Shower: After the call, I took a shower and my skin was immediately burned because the anti-scald switch was broken so with the slightest twist on the handle, you're being boiled. Also, the curtain for the shower didn't close all the way so the bathroom floor was covered in quite a bit of water that I then had to mop up with the other towels. No Sleep: I worked all night on an installation, returning to the hotel the next morning to get some sleep and popped in some earplugs. After roughly 45 minutes of sleep, I was woken up by housekeeping even though I put the "do not disturb" thing on the handle. Since the walls are paper thin, she yelled through the door at me I had the "do not disturb" thing the wrong way and I absolutely did not - I had double-checked when I returned to the room. I'm 1000% sure she was mistaken. Then, as I was just dozing back to sleep 20 minutes later, someone was banging on something very close to my room for 10 minutes. I had earplugs in the whole time, mind you. I called the front desk to tell them about the noise and it stopped after a bit. Then, just as I was falling asleep again, the front desk called my room and woke me up to tell me the maintenance guy was fixing something and that was the reason for the banging. Thank you for the information. Door Lock: I came back to the room after grabbing a late lunch to get another hour of sleep before working a second night and my key card wasn't opening the door. I went to the front desk, was reissued a card, went back to the room and that card didn't open the door either. I went back again to the front desk and he came with me to the room. He then saw that the door lock wasn't working and called maintenance. The maintenance guy eventually got the door open and we all discovered that the lock was in fact not working. He temporarily popped the door open for me and I laid down to get at least some sleep after dealing with the door for 15 minutes and just as I was falling asleep, the maintenance guy came back to work on the door for a half hour with the door propped open. The batteries had died in the lock but he got it working again. Yippee. Locked out of the Hotel: I came back to the hotel at around 4:30am and the front door was locked. Nobody was behind the front desk. It was 3 Celsius outside and I did not have a heavy enough jacket to sit outside until someone came to reception. I called with no answer. I walked around the building a few times and was getting really, really cold and was so incredibly tired. I was looking for a bell or call button for about 15 minutes and finally found it, hidden behind a large topiary. After a few minutes someone came to the front desk and let me in. I was absolutely freezing at that point, exhausted and livid. Holiday Inn Camden Lock was the worst hotel experience I've ever had.
