First class faultless hotel. Well laid out spacious quiet clean room with fantastic views of the Bullring from our 5th floor deluxe double room. Friendly helpful staff. Great buffet breakfast. Great location for nearby parking, shopping, bars and restaurants. The best in Birmingham, should be 5 star.

A pleasant one night stay. Convenient (if not hugely attractive) location in central Birmingham. Staff welcoming and helpful. A few minor niggles with the room (shower head needed cleaning/descaling and I found the mattress on the soft side). TV reception in the room was very poor. Breakfast was good.

Great location, car park is a good walk away, so best you don't have much luggage, there is supposed to be a drop off point, but it was unclear where, no signage to indicate, hotel looks nice, young blonde lady in reception seemed to not be happy in her work, in contrast, we ate at Brown's restaurant that evening and it was such a contrast in how to be made feel welcome. Room was smart and would use again, just don't expect a cheery welcome

Good hotel let down by reception staff who were happy to leave people waiting in favour of tapping away on their computers for ages. Also received abrupt phone call asking why my luggage was still in the room despite me having another night to go! Insincere apology received when they realised they were wrong but no idea why they hadn’t checked before calling. Shame because in every other way the hotel was great

The decor was lovely when browsing online and had a classic look about it. This was the reason why we made the decision to book than booking a lower end hotel. When booking and receiving a confirmation email, it would have been helpful to have been informed there were ongoing building works opposite the hotel, so a decision could have been made whether we wanted to cancel, that choice was taken out of our hands. When we checked in online and got to the hotel, we were informed our rooms had been upgraded, which was a nice touch, but they were nowhere near each other! My sister has arthritis and struggles to walk, aided with a crutch and naturally I was worried in case she had an accident and fell. We were only staying for a night and I didn't want to cause a fuss, but again simple communication could have averted this anxiety and worry. The view was unsightly from the bedroom window, so I kept the curtain closed, but the building works could be seen throughout the hotel, which can't be helped. Maybe the use of something to stick on the windows, that would cover part of the window but keep the natural light in would have been resourceful, especially in the dining area as there was also a public pathway. It was a bit difficult to understand how to operate the light switches and other switches, and what they represented. Having a basic manual in the room would have been helpful. I'm a poor sleeper but the bed was the best bed I've ever slept on in a hotel. It was so comfortable, spacious and had very good quality pillows and enough sheets. The room wasn't too hot or too cold and was soundproof. The shower was great, I loved that there was a lot of space to move around in. The customer service could have been better. There was one stand out young woman who worked in the bar and was friendly, engaging and helpful and a gentleman who welcomed us a breakfast.
