Assembly Roxy is a unique venue situated in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town.

The historic former church building houses three main spaces all equipped with modern sound and lighting systems. Roxy Upstairs is a theatre space with raked seating for up to 169 audience members, while Roxy Downstairs is a more intimate studio space seating up to 60 people. The largest is Roxy Central; a truly unique and beautiful space, with original features, a stage and a bar area. It is a flexible space seating up to 250, and where we hold a wide variety of events, ranging from theatrical productions, ceilidhs, weddings and corporate events. Assembly Roxy is also home to the Snug Bar, a cosy space to relax before, during or after an event, and where we also host intimate events, readings, live music and performances in a relaxed atmosphere.

The Roxy is well known for its use during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and is now open all year round.

Snug Bar is the perfect breakout space for up to 60 guests.

Fab venue, staff friendly and helpful. Good choice of events to go enjoy. Tonight for me it was Gary Meikle, did nit stop laughing from start to finish.

    December 2023

At Edinburgh Festival time, this place is a fine venue, but on the 14th of December, it was too cold to enjoy the show. (I didn't enjoy the show, anyway.) Maintaining a comfortable temperature in winter in such a large, church-like indoor space must be almost impossible without incurring a huge electricity bill.
