We stayed here 03/02/18 for a treat after recently having our son. After reading the reviews on here we weren't sure about going however we wanted to see it for ourselves. We honestly couldn't fault it one bit, the staff were welcoming and attentive, room was perfect, clean and warm. We stayed in room 24 which is a hot tub suite and we certainly got what we paid for, we told the hotel before coming it was a special occasion and they put out balloons and banners for us which was a lovely touch. Breakfast the next day was great as well and great choice of food also. All in all I wouldnt go by the reviews some people have left because I think they are simply picking minor faults, try the place for yourself. We will certainly be returning and bringing our son with us next time hopefully during the summer!GOOGLE REVIEW

Nice enough place. Staff friendly and helpful and views are very good. Just popped in for a coffee which was all right, had better but reasonable enough for a hotel and quite a nice place to sit and chat.GOOGLE REVIEW

Before continuing to read this review, please note that my room was booked for 4 nights; I could only stand 1 night before booking somewhere else. I should also say that the reason for this booking is purely because my own bathroom is being renovated. A night’s sleep and a hot shower was all that was required. Don’t be fooled by the up-market appearance of the entrance, luxurious carpet, bar area, restaurant etc because once you step out of the hall (which may contain a pile of dirty bedsheets) and into your room, you may well be in for a surprise. The smell of the dirty carpet, the dusty surfaces, the mix ‘n’ match furniture, the unpainted window ledge, the open fuse switches, the light fitting held up with cable ties. I could go on. The final straw after a very broken night’s sleep was the cold shower. I left the shower on ‘hot’ for a good 10 minutes, nothing. That’s all I wanted for my £247, some sleep and a hot shower before work. By all means try the fancy bar and the fancy restaurant menu, however take my advice and DO NOT stay here. EDIT : TO add insult to injury, i have been charged £64.40 for 'food and drinks' that have been charged to my room. I have had to report this to American Express as fraud, The Bayswell will not respond to my emails.GOOGLE REVIEW

The hotel is in a lovely location. The views are amazing, we got a wee Groupon deal, the food was ace. Sadly though the hotel was lacking in staff.. It took ages to get served and it really let the place down. I know sometimes things can't be helped but you'd of expected the management or owners to make some kind of effort or even call bookings to advise they are down on staff. All in all, I would go back to try again in hope the service is better.GOOGLE REVIEW

I stayed here last year and it was fine, but this time it was awful, I've had much more luxurious nights out camping! A colleague told me it was now under new management? A brief summary of my stay witnessed no water pressure in bathroom sink what so ever, I had to fill the kettle from shower and boil it to shave in the morning, which was made more challenging by the lack of a plug in the sink. Evenings were a delight as there was no light in bathroom; I had to use my phone torch to visit post sun down. A bedside lamp was installed in bathroom when I complained (so all safe there then!). The shower comes out at chest height (and I'm not tall!), so to wash my hair meant crouching down then skite about on sleek surface of the bath, saved only by redundant jet stream nozzles that stud the sides. The window mechanism was broken so unable to keep window open without using a prop (unfortunately the managers head was not available). The Kitchen no longer serves evening means, though I was only told this after I'd made my booking. Breakfast was farcical, the only coffee on offer was instant, plus a long wait for very simple hot breakfast offered, and an even longer wait to take my place in the queue to access the communal toaster (toast not available from kitchen so fried egg went cold by the time this was communicated to me). Pointless bits of furniture in the breakfast area made seating for customers very squashed, fine if you are 4 years old, but not if you want to have a normal sit down breakfast before a day of work. Not sure who the folk are reviewing this place positively but I saw a room full of very angry guests at breakfast. On departure I planed to negotiate a reduction on my room rate as the stay was so poor, but was told there was 'nothing to pay' when I checked out. I stupidly thought I wasn't being charged and so was going to put it all behind me. But the arrival of my credit card statement revealed that the full sum for this tardy stay has been deducted in full, with no receipt having been processed. To be avoided if you possibly can.GOOGLE REVIEW
