As other reviewers have said, the rooms are absolutely tiny, but for a couple of nights that's fine. The wall sockets in our room were in super weird places, but because the room is so small it doesn't really matter. The location is absolutely perfect, though. A five minute walk from Earls Court station and 10 minutes from the shops on high street Kensington. For the price, it's really not bad. I am only giving three stars though because I think it's incredibly misleading to call this a 4-star hotel. Amenities, room comfort, and just general vibe is definitely more of a 3-star hotel. If you are a light sleeper, I would definitely give this a pass because you can hear everything outside the room. If you are expecting a great hotel experience, I would splurge a bit more and go for something else. If you are just concerned with a decent hotel in a nice area of the city, this is fine.

Not impressed. Room I was given was next to noisy lift shaft - sounded like workmen in the next room every time the lift operated. Thankfully another room was available so moved. Reception admitted other guests had mentioned the noise. No draft beer - told by off-hand, disinterested bar staff that there was something wrong with the line and it had been decided not to repair it because it was too expensive! Small rooms but clean enough. Food choice very limited. Settled on a burger eventually - told by another disinterested member of staff, 'no we haven't got any burgers.' Decided to go elsewhere to eat. About time this place closed I reckon; it's on it's last legs by the look of it. I will not be returning as there is a huge choice of hotels within area. 1st time I've ever felt the need to post a negative review, and I stay in many hotels.

On the positive side: the staff is very friendly and welcoming, and the location is excellent. However, the rooms are shockingly small. The bathroom smelled mouldy and were suffocatingly small too. I expected better for a hotel that's rated 4 stars and on the more expensive range. This building is in desperate need of a renovation! The breakfast is your standard wholesome English breakfast, worth its cost. I've stayed at Mercure in other cities too, but never had any of the above issues.
