We had a lovely stay at the Apex Waterloo in October. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the staff was extremely attentive, friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for exploring Edinburgh. I would definitely stay there again on my next visit. We loved all of the special touches (the little ducks) and the swimming pool/sauna. Thank you to the staff at the Apex, you made our visit even more special. Cheers!

Have just spent 2 nights here for a short weekend break. Managed to get an earlier check in, around 130pm, and even got upgraded from a city double to a superior double. Room was a good size with a large bathroom, bath and separate walk in shower. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We used the swimming pool and steam room, which were small but sufficient. Also has drinks at the bar on the first night, which had a good selection. The only small thing which was a bit annoying was every tinlme we used the shower, the bathroom floor outside got soaked. We resorted to putting down towels. There were other occasions the floor appeared wet even when the shower hadn't been used, albeit not to such an extent. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for location, staff, service and value for money in January

Very good location and very helpful staff and receptionist. The rooms are good size with a comfortable large bed. The bathroom was clean and modern with a large shower and bathtub. It was difficult to get the room warmer, the heat pump was put to the max but the room only got "warmish" which was disappointing. It has a basic gym, sauna and steam room. The pool was in maintenance

Recently stayed at the hotel, on arrival staff on desk were very welcoming - room was available in advance of check in time, so a positive start. We were then told that the pool was closed (on of the main reasons for staying at this hotel) - and that it would reopen soon - this was not the case, despite being told from 4 staff members at multiple points throughout the stay that 'soon' never came - our expectations were poorly managed, and we felt as those it was giving false hope. Hotel rooms were clean, and tidy - kettle was provided with tea/coffee, and a in a nice nod to sustainability- they use refillable glass bottles for there water. TV in the room was good and had freeview. Breakfast in the morning was great good continental selection and a nice cooked breakfast. Bar - we used the bar twice, both times quick service, good selection- reasonably priced. Facilities - as mentioned pool was closed for the duration of our stay, as we spoke to staff we told its just unfortunate, with no apology. Disappointing, for a 4 star hotel, fully appreciate maintenance issues happen - however communication was poor on the issue. Considering the vast number of messages/emails from the chain - zero communication about pool being closed until you reached the door of the leisure facilities. Separate note - Sauna and steam room were working, and kept clean. Special shout out to Val on the cleaning team, she was a gem to speak too and was happy to share a story - lovely person and certainly enhanced our stay. Giving this review 3 stars, as for a 4 star hotel we left feeling slightly underwhelmed.
