What a great time we all had here last weekend in the sunshine. They even have outside table service which is rare ! The burgers from the hut were delicious especially the chilli chips and Izzy who served was fabulous despite being very busy. Would recommend

I came for my daughters 21st birthday and ended up staying the whole day in the beer garden, atmosphere was amazing, to my pleasure I stumbled across a lovely tin hutch called the “burger shack” had probably the nicest burger I’ve had in a pub and to top things off the young gentleman and lady that were preparing the food genuinely looked like they were enjoying themselves and met me with a huge smile. My room was fantastic with a river view and a spacious balcony, could not ask for more! Alexander pope hotel you have exceeded my expectations with food, service and accommodation. I am one happy bunny! Will most certainly be returning!

£45.00 for 2 pork belly roasts, g+t and a cider. Not worth the money. Crackling was like rubber, pork was soggy like it had been run under a tap before being served. Asked for apple sauce, long pause from the server as if they were confused. She came back 5mins later with the ‘apple sauce’. Think it was baby food. Tasted of custard. And server smelt like an ash tray. Wouldn’t recommend.

Came for a spot of lunch with the family. Had high hopes. Was not busy. Decor is nice. Food was well below par. Presents as a gastro pub. Reality was closer to freezer section at Iceland. Service was atrocious. Triple cooked chips were passable. Battered fish was on the turn. Fish burger was under seasoned. Sides were presented in ramekins not able to hold more than 3 tablespoons. Mushy peas nice but out of a can. The homemade tartare sauce was amazing. Fizzy drinks were flat. As in not a single bubble. When asked for a replacement we were met with amazed looks...told to wait for the manager! After a while we got the same flat drinks in different glasses. Forty pounds for privilege of a fish burger fish and chips and 2 flat lemonades. Beautiful location. Beautiful venue. Think the chef and wait staff had an off day. Not willing to try again.

Beware! Just got charged £6 for a pint of lager and lime (Heineken, not a craft lager). Price was confirmed as correct when queried. Also watching England semi final ruined as sound on TVs not working so could not hear what was happening. Brewery seems to want to use this as a showcase but there needs to be more focus on the customers.
