We went in randomly for a drink. The young lady that first served us first was very sweet and nice, but the man that took over her shift (that wore a cap and glasses) was so unfriendly. Not someone you'd expect at customer service at a pub. He didn't have to be friendly if he didn't want to be; He was not rude; but a simple smile would have been nice! Hence the rating for my low service rating.

With relatives from Australia who loved the friendly pre game atmosphere and the friendly welcoming security staff. Bar staff are excellent...minimal waiting even when busy.

I visited this pub as it was recommended that it sold Carlsberg, and that's all I drink when back up on Durham. We ordered 4 pints of Carlsberg and shortly after tasting took them back to the bar as it tasted off. We spoke to a customer at the bar who said the same. We spoke to the barman who said we could change them, so we ordered Madri, and he pulled 4 pints. By this time out Carlsberg had been pored down the sink. Then, a woman appeared, who I can only presume was the landlady, and questioned our comments about the Carlsberg. She was basically arguing with us saying there is nothing wrong with it, but I drink Carlsberg all the time and I know a bad pint when I taste it. She said we could have the Madri at a discount, even though they had pored outs away. We declined and left, with a bad taste in our mouth. We went to another bar, and shortly afterwards some of her "regulars" were in the same bar, probably looking for a better pint! Bar itself looked ok, but if you go there, don't buy Carlsberg!
