About Terrace

48 Chalk Farm Road, London, NW1 8AJ

Boteco… pronounced ‘Buteco’ or ‘Botequim’ is traditionally known as a place where alcoholic beverages were sold, serving as a meeting place for bohemians who looked for a good drink, elegant snacks and a chat without obligation.

A flavour of the favela arrives in London

Fun-loving Camden has just got its own slice of the exotic Amazon in the shape of Made in Brasil Boteco – a new neighbourhood cachaçaria bar on Chalk Farm Road.

Centred on a passion for all things Brasilian, Made in Brasil Boteco is a bohemian, favela-style bar in the heart of North London. Step into this energetic space and be instantly transported to the vibrant carnivals of Rio or the friendly, old-style botecos (bars) of Sao Paulo and Salvador. The main face of Made in Brasil Boteco is Renato Paziam, originally from Sao Paulo and a self-labelled ‘ambassador for Brasilians in London’, who for many years has been running its sister restaurant Made in Brasil. Renato is the main influence behind the drinks menu that pays homage to the national spirit of Brasil – Cachaça, a traditional spirit distilled from sugar cane juice which has a sweet and explosive flavour. In fact, the bar boasts the largest selection of cachaças in the UK with over 100 to choose from, and an extensive cocktail list with Brazilian favourites such as the Acai Caipirinha, Cachaça Sours and Chilly Mary Caipirinha.

In keeping with the casual vibe, the head chef Clau Gloria D Souza from Porto Seguro in the Brazilian state of Bahia has brought the taste of her homeland to a menu of Petiscos (Brazilian tapas) to be nibbled on throughout the evening. The authentic dishes are inspired by regional Amazonian and Bahian style cooking and include Garlic and chilli prawns, Slow cooked pork ribs with boiled cassava and vinaigrette, and Acaraje – shrimp and black eyed pea fritters which are a traditional street food from the North East of Brazil.

Due to the Brazilian roots of both the manager and chef, Made in Brasil Boteco is already becoming a bohemian hub of South American culture: Brazilians and South Americans from all over the capital call it a home from home – and music is high up on their agenda, with impromptu jam sessions often breaking out in the evening. Art exhibitions, samba and salsa classes, Brazilian and South American movie screenings often take place bringing the dynamic and colourful culture of Brazil to the city. And, as it gets warmer customers will be able to enjoy the large roof terrace for eating, drinking and dancing too!

Here at Made In Brasil Boteco we have a flexible booking policy which means we can accommodate you whatever your plans, from booking a couple of seats at the bar to hiring out the venue.

We had a big summer party with more than 40 people organised at Made In Brazil. The employees and manager was very helpful and kind throughout the whole process; from planning to execution as well as afterwards. They helped with organising outside entertainment and accommodated all our many requirements. The food was good and cocktails delicious! Everyone had a blast. I can highly recommend the place!

Great little place close to Camden high street. The food is excellent, the staff is extremely nice and helpful. They also have a good value tapas deal. I'd definitely go back.

Nos engañaron para entrar!!!! The best cocktails and brazilian food. I work in Camden Market (in front of them) and we usually go every weekend. Today we paid to get in (very inusual) and we ask BEFORE if it was brazilian live music (as always). They told us YES. But what we didn’t know that it was brazilian heavy metal band. VERY DISAPPOINTED, they tricked us!

Well the ambiance, decor, live music and vibe leaves you certainly not mistaken that you're in a S.American bar... Bar tenders work fast with cocktails. Great drop in venue...
