An extremely central location, and excellent service. The rooms are a little tired, and soundproofing to the corridor leads a lot to be desired, the gap under the door letting in quite a bit of light probably doesn't help. There were no plugs by the bed, so bring a battery or an extra long cable. The bathrooms are a decent size, even with a low ceiling (my head hit the ceiling when using the shower), with enough flat surfaces to put your wash kit - more hanging rails (not hooks) for towels would be welcome. No sliding door, which is very much appreciated. The lifts are a little small, so budget for that if your journey is time sensitive as they're often full. The room had all the standard amenities, iron & board, safe, coffee machine etc. All in all, pretty good but could do with some improvements here & there.

Excellent location and the valet parking was superb ,our room on the 7th floor was ok but the noise from the street below was noticeable. Big mistake was paying extra for breakfast, the ‘hot’ buffet was lukewarm at best and some items were not replaced for the 30 mins we were there ,definitely not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. We would stay again purely for the location. We would stay again

Avoid restaurant at all cost. We waited 20 minutes to be handed a menu, then we were told after 10 minutes that half the menu had sold out (it was 7.30pm) and waited 45 minutes to be given the starter after chasing them three times. My soup had been watered down. They had obviously ran out of it and added water in the pan. My friend had ordered some sort of poached egg in broth which had gone cold. We left without eating. This was a Christmas gift. We went to the see the duty manager (the restaurant manager was not interested) on duty and left our number but never received a call. This review is based on the restaurant only as we didn’t stay in the hotel

We were given a gift voucher from “buyagift” for a meal experience at this hotel. We had the WORST meal experience I have ever known. We were seated early. The dining room became loud with other tables of voucher-holders until full up. They continued topping up the bottomless “Prosecco” around 8 times. Yet no tipsy feeling came at all. It tasted no more alcoholic than fizzy water and was just as sweet. I should have been flat on the floor after so many glasses on an empty stomach. 80 mins later (yes… a full 1 hour 20 mins after ordering) the starter finally arrived. Scallops were cool and hard. The “potted shrimp” was actually a cold fried egg on a piece of white toast with a small number of tiny shrimps lodged under the rock hard egg: it was just gruesome - food that made our appetite leave us completely. By now the service was already a mass-farce worthy of Fawlty Towers; we had already chased for our food several times. So had many others. To receive food of such poor quality was too much for us. We become the third table of guests to simply get up and walk out. I can’t believe this kind of thing can be allowed to go on, it’s something of a scam in my view, and I have asked everyone I know to never use “buyagift” and avoid “The Cavendish Hotel” and the terrible restaurant that is the “Mayfair Lounge and Grill”. The manager, called “Daniel”, took our contact details and promised to make things right. He said he would email us. It has not happened. no contact whatsoever. Any decent hotel or restaurant would have been straight in touch the next day. Avoid this place and take the warnings on here as genuine. We went straight over to fortnums and received excellent food 15 mins after ordering. I noticed we gave a bad review to “buyagift” about this, yet their website only shows all 5 star reviews. My trust in the whole thing is totally destroyed.
