One of the five learned societies that have based themselves around the courtyard of Burlington House, The Linnean is the world’s oldest surviving biological society. Among the world-class collection of scientific specimens, art and literature are seven event spaces. The Tower Room and Council Room are newly refurbished, retaining the historical paintings that illustrate aspects of Linnean’s history. Other talking points are the cabinets that housed the herbarium of Carl Linneaus during WWII. Situated at the front of the building on Piccadilly, the Library is an elegant space with classical columns rising to the ceiling and galleries running along either side.
