About Oyster Bar

1, Great John Street, Manchester, M3 4FD

Originally a Victorian school house, the Great John Street is a charming hotel with a variety of thoughtfully decorated meeting and function rooms, chic bedrooms, stylish dining areas and charming terrace gardens. It is located in close proximity to some of Manchester's most prestigious shopping areas, restaurants and theatres and can be hired exclusively for large, or more intimate parties, wedding receptions and corporate events.

The Oyster Bar is an attractive ground floor area in the Great John Street Hotel. It was designed by Sally O'Loughlin and combines chic vintage decor with a pewter bar, glamorous chandelier, plush seating and historic sepia photographs of the Victorian school's previous pupils. For birthday parties and corporate Christmas or Summer parties the Oyster Bar can be hired alongside the Library & Terrace.

This is quite a unique/bespoke hotel that offer something more than just a plain dull room to hold a wedding. Firstly, the wedding was handle brilliantly, great co-ordination and staff could not be more professional, helpful and friendly. The entire day flowed magnificently due to the planning on both parts of the couple being married and the hotel. The food was excellent. All tables served promptly maintaining that everything was hot and fresh. After the wedding the rest of the visit was a pleasure, my past experiences after an event like this haven’t been as welcoming.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in a few years now. Old fashioned hotel with modern amenities. Was a great weekend to spend there. Ideal for couples and great service. Good food and friendly atmosphere. Been there for a team building and stayed over the weekend. The hotel staff and especially the bar staff were awesome. Good breakfast and delicious food overall. I can't forget George one of the bartenders that looked after our team. 5* service he delivered and would deserve an employee of the month recognition. Would definately go back when I will have the chance and highly recommend for someone that would love to stay over weekend in Manchester and have a great opportunity to visit and spend time in the heart of the city.

Love, Love, Love, Very luxury, AMAZING COMFY BEDS, stylishly well presented, amazing service and really enjoyed my stay here, defiantly one of the best hotels Manchester has to offer as I preferred it to the Lowry hotel as its got more soul to it.

The roof top terrace is so relaxed and comfy with staff very helpful and attentive, it's worth a visit just for that! The hotel has character with unique decor throughout. I stayed in the baby grand room and expectations were surpassed with an overall extremely enjoyable experience. Didn't get to try it but the afternoon tea looks amazing!
