OPENS SEPTEMBER 2018Following his departure from Michelin-starred Tamarind in Mayfair after 10 years at the helm, chef Peter Joseph, who grew up in Tamil Nadu, is focusing all his efforts on this solo project. Kahani, which translates as ‘story’ from Urdu, can be found opposite the Cadogan Hall concert venue. Its Indian-inspired furnishings include images of that country’s national bird, the peacock, lining the walls – as well as glamorous touches such as a live lobster and crab tank. The kitchen goes against the grain by serving just two curries, with the rest of the menu majoring in grilled proteins and vegetables from a robata grill. Small plates include masala-grilled avocado and tandoori calamari, while rabbit kebab and wild venison boti are among the skewers from the grill. Desserts consist of Indian twists on classics, with options such as chilli chocolate mousse and a pistachio and mango cheesecake.
