The British Library is not only the national library of the United Kingdom but also one of the world's greatest academic institutions.

Opened in 1998, the library is now hailed as a great triumph of design and technology as well as one of the greatest repositories of library materials which include over 150 million items, with some material dating from 3000 years ago. The auditorium can accommodate up to 255 delegates, with facilities for simultaneous translation, film, sound and video presentation. This, combined with a full team of onsite technical expertise, ensures world-class delivery. In addition, there are five comfortable and individually designed meeting rooms allowing for 10-60 delegates. All rooms have natural daylight, electronic blackout blinds, climate control and sound proofing.

Further to the Knowledge Centre, the British Library also has an executive Boardroom suite, consisting of the British Library Boardroom, which is ideal for board meetings and presentations as well as private lunches and dinners for up to 32 guests. The additional rooms in this suite can accommodate from 4 to 12 guests making it in an ideal option for smaller meetings and interviews.

In the evening, the library offers receptions and dinners for up to 200 guests. The King's Library Gallery offers a spectacular backdrop with the King's Library Tower, holding over 65,000 volumes or the Terrace Restaurant with its floor to ceiling windows and outdoor, rooftop terrace for summer events.

The Chaucer Room allows direct access to the auditorium and is the perfect break out space or green room for speakers and VIPs attending the auditorium. Holding up to 50 people the room provides a built in stage with AV equipment, black out blinds and air conditioning.

Great place to access many books from around the world. There are numerous exhibitions on display with some paid and some free. Access to reading room is for paid members only and we managed to find some seating spaces in the restaurant for other diners as we brought lunch from outside. With ½ term they had the family station opened 11am-3pm and there’s a buggy park at the entrance with baby changing facilities on most floors (if you’re lucky to find the lift it’s easy to get around).

Been in this place few times for exhibitions, most recent visit was for talk with Ian Livingstone and it was such a great experience. Well prepared, with presentation and pictures, Ian has been cracking one joke after another, lovely fella to listen to. Event was also quite long with Q&A part, I would say up to 2 hours, so not bad at all. After the main event we had a chance to meet him, buy his books and get them signed. He seems very good on his age, bright mind and still full of energy.

The British library is truly remarkable. A massive site filled with books. We visited for the Fantasy event and while it was overpriced it was beyond beautiful for any book fan. The library exhibition was stunning and had some interactive parts. A lovely day out. The library itself is free to visit, the events I would book in advance and they have an activity book for children to keep them entertained ✨

An incredible building in the heart of London, near King’s Cross and Euston. The building is stunning from the stairwells to the incredible books, exhibitions and more! It’s a space where you can relax, take a book, do some with or explore the building and all it has to offer. There is a cafe and shops plus other rooms available. If you’re in London it’s a must see for perusing or doing some work.
