Kempton Park Racecourse, Staines Road East, Sunbury-on-Thames, TW16 5AQ

One of the busiest racecourses in Europe is just 16 miles from London

Kempton Park Racecourse is just 16 miles from London and is one of the busiest racecourses in Europe hosting horseracing all year round; Jump racing from October to May and Flat racing on the all-weather track throughout the year.

The highlight of Kempton Park’s racing calendar is the prestigious Grade 1 King George VI Chase.

Outside of racing, the track is a leading provider of conferences and events in the area.

This exclusive space is the very room from which HRH Elizabeth II watches the races when she visits Kempton Park. Bursting with character and regal lustre it is the perfect venue for milestone events, receptions and dinners.

Great Racecourse. Very good view of whole course. Plenty of seats if you need one. The food is quite good too compared to a lot of other courses. Also has its own train station about a one minute walk from the entrance to the course.

Good venue for bog events, the security can be over keen though. There is no need to stop festival attendees from bringing in camping chairs

Visited kempton park racecourse to attend a rock and gemstone show. A compact but very usable exhibition space on the ground floor. An amazing selection of gemstones and geological specimens. The catering provided by the Desert orchid cafe on the mezenine floor. A limited menu but well prepared. Had an excellent lasagne and salad. The cafe is accessible by lift so no problem with disabled access. Toilets on ground floor and mezzanine floor.

I use Gate 6 which is an area totally enclosed for dogs. Fairly small but excellent if you are training dog for recall or have a puppy and want to let them off of lead for first time. They cannot get out or in danger. Locals leave water down for dogs and balls are there for dogs entertainment.

I really like this racecourse as it is reasonably small and has a relaxed atmosphere with no need for all the dressing up in hats and heels. However, they do have a really good panoramic bar and restaurant on the top floor that can be booked if you would prefer something a little nicer. Personally, we prefer to soak up the atmosphere outside on the stands and also on the grass at the rail. There are reasonable hotels close by and it is located quite close to the river Thames too, so is good to stay over for a couple of nights. This is an all round good place.
