Great breakfast, comfortable room, amazing staff who were really friendly and accommodating. People say "ohhh this place is dated n needs refurbishment"... its been around since 1700 and is still very nice condition all round. If you want a brand new hotel then book into a brand new hotel.

We went here for afternoon tea. On arrival there was a power cut, not their fault. They still managed to cater for us with hot tea, cake and sandwiches. The whole place is so outdated. I can’t imagine spending the night there. The staff were nice and friendly, this is nothing against them. The sandwich’s and cake were that cold they had very little taste. Travelled 50 minutes for this and just not worth it, sorry.

Stayed here a couple of times. A lovely hotel on the on the edge of Birmingham. The rooms could do with an upgrade. Didn't have the best experience the last time we stayed. Had loud banging on our door multiple times late at night. This was quite frightening as the main door to the rooms was open. Myself been pregnant at the time with my elderly mum and her friend this was a scary experience. We attempted to contact the reception multiple times with no answer. Once someone finally answered a clueless member of staff arrived to our room, when explaining the situation he gave no real solution and did not return to follow up which he said he would. The following morning at breakfast (which was delicious) we spoke with a manager. She explained there were a German family with young children therefore this may have been them playing a prank. She was very dismissive and unacceping that it was a scary experience. She stated the night member of staff who finally attended to us was new. Well this should have made no difference. Will not be staying here again based on the poor management of our particular situation. If guests are upset then this should be taken seriously and staff should be held accountable for there inexperience and lack of availability overnight!

We booked for 3 people for Christmas lunch at £75 per person as we all had different choices. The service was slow with only 2 young staff on duty and a manager. The turkey lunch was lukewarm, came plated with no stuffing or parsnips despite stating turkey with all the trimmings - 2 roast potatoes, 4 min sausages, a few sprouts and two carrots. Another person chose lamb shank which came in a dish with mashed potatoes only. No vegetables were offered despite them being on the menu as served with vegetables. The Christmas pudding was lukewarm, served with custard, no choice of cream or brandy butter. The crackers provided were clearly damp or cheap and did not bang when pulled and the table decorations of one blower - did not work. In total out of £225 spent. if we had £25 worth of food between us, which on the whole was lukewarm and not of a standard expected on Christmas Day. Very poor, would not recommend this at all. Spoiled our Christmas Day.
