My husband and I stayed here in Dec for our niece's wedding. Absolutely beautiful. The building itself is really lovely and very interesting. Beautiful grounds too that you can walk around. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. We arrived the day before the wedding and fortunately had pre-booked an evening meal. They were very busy but service was very good and the food was very nice indeed. The wedding was held in the Orangery and it was really beautiful and romantic. The food was great and the service fantastic. The bedrooms are a good size for standard rooms with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was spacious with a great shower. The drive from Manchester was horrible to say the lease, taking us 5 hours. But if we were invited to another wedding at this hotel, we would definitely think it's worth that journey.

We stayed here for a wedding at the same venue. It's a very nice old building kept in really good condition. Lovely features and garden. All three staff were very friendly and efficient. A very nice experience.

Check-in took time because our room hadn't been cleaned or inspected (yet housekeeping knocked on our door next morning at 10 am, so I'm not sure why there was such a wait!) Our suite (sullivan) was very modern and spacious with everything you needed - we were disturbed early evening by noise from what appeared to be an extractor fan outside, but luckily, it stopped before we went to sleep! The room was quite hot but luckily there was a fan so we made good use of that. Breakfast was very nice, no wait to enter (not sure what it's like at the weekend!) with a good selection and courteous service from the waitress.

Absolutely loved the staff who were extremely helpful, the room which was clean and spacious, the excellent spa and gym facilities, the beautiful grounds and the quality of food. Stayed for 2 nights from NYE. Only slight negatives were the vast amounts of used linen left in the corridors for most of the day which could be rectified by placing in skip bags until collected, the high mark up of food and alcohol and mediocre DJ on NYE. The band was great! These few points would not stop us visiting again. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Amazing location, needs updating especially the spa. Not great for long stays but OK for a weekend break. A massive plus is they allow dogs, however do not expect your room to be cleaned should they come in with mucky paws. The grounds are fantastic, beautiful rose garden and surrounding wildlife is a nice escape.
