Gosh....Where do I start.....I disliked pretty much everything!!!!!! It was a 60th Birthday Celebration and it was the ground floor hall that we used. Firstly-The hall was booked and paid for to start at 17.00hrs yet they did not arrive until 17.19 to allow us into the hall. We then had to wait in excess of 40 minutes for the Manager to bring the correct rectangular tables that were booked. They had given us round ones. The condition of the tables were appalling- filthy stained and hazardous. One actually collapsed whilst some of the guests were eating!!! Some of the tables were bowing inwards in the middle, screws had been put to hold it together but too long to allow the locking mechanism to work. On examination of the round ones we found that not only did many have the same problem but some of the legs hadn't even been secured to the table itself. There was an ant infestation at the rear of the hall. The ceiling fans do not work. One of the fridges didn't work and kept leaking water that we had to keep mopping up, to prevent an accident. Flies in the kitchen, they are aware of the problem which we found out afterwards, as they actually had fly spray in the front reception area. We were advised that storage was available for the excess chairs only to find out on the day that the manager would not allow it. A very helpful member of staff Chantelle, was able to find us another area to put the chairs. The curtains covering the boarded up windows (their soundproofing attempt) are not neutral and clash terribly with the decorations. You need to provide your own toilet tissue, hand wash and hand wipes. Not a problem, but when you find out that the washrooms are not exclusive and anyone else using the other rooms downstairs use the same washrooms not just your invited guests that's not satisfactory or acceptable! There are 2 very large and filthy Cream coloured armchairs in the "waiting area" between the reception area and the hall. We were told that if these were removed for us to enable a VIP Photo Booth area with Red carpet the power would be turned off and the Party would be cancelled!! The horrible armchairs are a health hazard, the amount of germs that must be embedded in the dirt is too disgusting to think of. Following the event we returned to the hall to raise all the issues formally, even though all of the issues had been observed and witnessed by their representative Chantelle and we had images and videos to prove it....the response by the manager was that the CCTV needed to be reviewed prior to them acknowledging anything. I then got a phonecall asking for the exact time that the table collapsed......can you believe they were too lazy to review the CCTV footage to see all the issues for themselves and just wanted to skip through it.!!!! Probably because it would force them to acknowledge all of the above issues. This was on Monday 26th June 2023 and I'm still waiting for an apology and my deposit 4 days later so far.....still waiting. 🤔🤔 By all means if the above sounds like a great hall to hire....go ahead.....if someone had told me what this hall was like I never would have hired it !!!! But one of the worse things is this...... My sister in law made enquiries about the hall for the same day, same hall, same times, same requirements and I kid you not......she was quoted £400 more than the quote they gave me. Needless to say I ended up doing the hiring....but in reality that should have been the red flag to highlight looking elsewhere.....my foolish, naive and really terrible mistake 😑 😐 I will obviously be reporting this to the relevant bodies, council and health and safety.
