Big Penny Social in Blackhorse Lane incorporates the UK’s largest beer hall, flexible event space, and a huge sunny beer garden with a total capacity of over 1,400 people. We are an incredibly versatile space and are well suited to many event types, from conferences and exhibitions, to summer or Christmas parties and away days to filming, markets, pop-up shops, product launches, press launches, gigs, weddings and everything in between! We are a collaborative team here and work with each of our clients to create tailored and memorable events.
Situated a 5 minute walk from Blackhorse Road Station on the Victoria line and Overground, Big Penny Social is easily reachable from central London. Not only are we just 20 minutes from Kings Cross, we are also one train from London Liverpool Street, which goes directly to nearby St James Street Station, passing through Bethnal Green and Hackney. We are also well connected by bus, being on the routes to Stratford, Wood Green and Chingford.
We are also a fully accessible venue, with step free access across all three of our public spaces. We also have brilliant tech and AV equipment included within the hire of our spaces, from radio mics to our 16ft projector or LED screen.
Big Penny Social large garden is a real sun trap with its own shipping container bar and audio set up for DJs and bands. With its own entrance, space for 400 and three phase power we can host a variety of events, and with linked access to our Event Space we are able to provide a fantastic indoor/outdoor combination space. In the winter, the installation of a stretch tent make it a cosy space to catch up in the fresh air.
Please note that exclusive private hire of the entire garden is only available with a whole building hire.

So rare in London to dig a place such as BPS. Spacious for kids to run around. Table tennis and table football for all to play on offer. Cool music. Simple but tasty menu. We had Bean quesadilla and Burgers, yum. Nice choices for kids, even Sunday mini Roasts. Industrial feel type sporadic seating which was fun. ( and they have an immense garden) ..we came to eat and stayed for everything else! ➡️❤️ p.s. even the photo booth is on-site too !

It's so big that the ceiling fans are helicopter blades! Looking for a giant brick warehouse that's a massive microbrewery (not sure how else to describe it) with arcades, table tennis, darts and the footy on too? oh yeah, did I mention the helicopter blades as ceiling fans. This is it! And that's just one of the rooms! Live entertainment in the other, beer garden... and lots more. 🍺💯🚁

This is a nice venue to go drinking at in the sun or rain especially with groups of friends, as the inside is massive with good music helping to maintain a good vibe. There are a good few beers on offer, with the lager I had being a perfect balance being light yet having a good level of flavour and a little zing to it. The kitchen looks great as you pass to and from the outdoor area, however the pizza was a let down lacking a light crust and a more flavourful cheese.

Big Penny Social is most certainly buzzing with a family style atmosphere. It's definitely the place to meet with friends and your young kids. It's very loud, so if you struggle with too much noise I would not recommend this. But generally it was a nice experience for our group of friends. The menu and food ordering is via a QR code in your table so fairly seamless, and unsurprisingly (as there's lots of people) the food took a while to come out. We all ordered Sunday roast, beef, and my friends ordered vegetarian Sunday roast. The great thing is that they have the kids roast. It's a decent flavoursome roast with an average price point. It's nothing spectacular, just a no nonsense roast.

Positives: Big space, rustic feel, nice atmosphere, and free ping pong football table, Photo Booth £5 and GIFs sent to your phone. Garden (extra table and chairs) at the back with space. Different ales, beers, soft drinks etc, Toliet facilities. Sadly let down by: Bathroom is too open.. Food was very very disappointing for what you pay!, hardly any filling in sandwiches tasteless, drinks were weak and awful. We will never come here to eat again, as it’s so expensive for what you get!. Also confusing in how you order and pay. Note: Card only
