This place is a little gem well worthy of your time. Some really lovely borders and great strolls around the grounds. The greenhouses are not to be missed with a terrific collection of chilli's and tomatoes when we were there. It also has a lovely cafe with outside seating so you can enjoy the rolling hills and pasture in the background.

West Dean had earlier in the year furloughed a good number of staff in the garden and many of the volunteers had to stay away. Despite this and despite the fact their growing season was shortened as a consequence, the garden looked excellent. It is a shining example of horticultural excellence. The walled garden is particulalry amazing. It also remains great value for money. The arboretum is well worth the short walk.

We liked it here very much. There are very beautiful walled gardens with a huge range of very colourful plants. The cafe serves high quality food and drink. There are some longer walks out into the countryside if you have time.

The lunch was lovely - quiche, new potatoes and salad. Very fresh and tasty. What we saw of the gardens (pergola and beds) were beautiful. Unfortunately, we were caught in a terrific thunderstorm with no shelter available.

Large area, lovely sunken garden, very nice cafe with delicious quiche. Big green field with sheep adjoining. Not easy by bus if you have reduced mobility. Nice shop. Gorgeous plants on sale but no good for us as we were travelling by train.
