Family lunch in Wernher restaurant. The surroundings are amazing - a beautiful and luxurious top drawer stately home. Food and service good with a fixed price 3 course Sunday lunch at £39. We wanted to sit in a lounge before lunch but couldn't because all tables were reserved for afternoon tea from 1.30.

Magical stay. Lovely staff, special thank you to the two Davids, great food and awesome Spa treatments, all against the magical backdrop of awe-inspiring grounds with some of the most beautiful trees I have ever seen. Made my wife's 40th birthday really memorable, thank you!

Recently stayed for a spa weekend with a friend and had a lovely time. Prior to our stay I had emailed the hotel to book in our treatments and dinner, but didn’t hear back, so I had to chase them several weeks later. However, when I spoke to someone on the phone they were incredibly helpful. We had originally asked for treatments on the Saturday, but due to the delay these were no longer available. Instead they offered us Sunday treatments and gave us a free late checkout as compensation. We had originally asked for a twin room but said we would be happy with a double if needed. As they didn’t have a twin available, they upgraded us to a double suite. However this was at the country club and not in the main hotel which was a shame, but it was closer to the pool and spa so it was good in that respect. The room was large and clean, very comfortable bed and great shower. The pool was a good size and changing rooms very clean. Included in our package was a three course dinner and breakfast the next day. Food and service were very good in the evening, but breakfast service was very slow and we had to ask for our pastry basket three times before it arrived. The table next to us complained to the manager about the service.

Beautiful grounds, spacious rooms and the food is great. Massage by Patricia was incredible! Unfortunately the sauna and steam were closed due to Covid. Big shout out to the immensely helpful Rita Jones from the reservations team who went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. We visited on the Bank Holiday so it was very busy!

Do not come! This hotel does not have enough staff and is in complete disarray. It is testimony to just how much resource is needed to effect a beautiful stay in a beautiful place. Give them at least 6 months from May 2021, before you book. Room mini-fridge broken. NO room service, none! No answer on the phone and breakfast failed to arrive when I ordered it at reception the night before. Rude spa staff. Short spa treatment sessions, which start late Stale bread at breakfast (the coffee was good, though). And I'm only halfway through my weekend! Such a shame, given how desperate people are for a break.
