Located to the west of Sheffield, just one mile from the city centre, the privately owned Rutland Hotel is widely known as one of the friendliest hotels in town. The boutique-style property blends
traditional Victorian features with contemporary touches for a warm & relaxed feel. A £1m refurbishment in 2008 completely transformed all 63 bedrooms, each of which was individually designed
with bespoke furniture, mood lighting & stylish wallpaper. Included in the range are two roomy state-of-the-art executive suites & there are also three attractive meeting rooms – all with
natural daylight – able to cater for between 30 to 100 guests theatre style. Delegates have direct access to the newly landscaped gardens, perfect for outdoor activities & teambuilding
exercises. The hotel offers 24-hour conference packages, which include dinner in the restaurant, overnight stay & full English breakfast.

I've stayed here twice with work and really like this place. Large rooms, very comfortable beds, friendly helpful staff, and a great breakfast! For me, it does everything right. It feels more like an independent place, rather than a generic modern hotel, and that's part of the charm.

Straight forward check in. There is no lift, so be sure to make staff aware if you need a ground floor room/wheel chair access when booking. The lady on reception did offer us a ground floor room, but these were single rooms only. Car parking is £9.00 for 24 hours and you’re not guaranteed a space. The hotel itself needs some time and money spending on it. The Lady on reception was nice and polite.

Chose this hotel as very close to the Receptionist friendly enough. Parking good, but £9 come on. No restaurant or bar but pizza, wine, and bottled cider were very welcome. Noticed on the way to our room 61, that the hotel corridors could do with brightening up very dowdy. We were it seemed in the lower parts of the hotel as we had to go downward, I had a feeling that there would be no window in the room, and to be honest it was like a windowless room, as there was some sort of bush/tree blocking the light. But that wasn't my first thought of the room, which was how cold the room was, it was bitter, I turned the thermostat up, but it took hours for the room to heat to a comfortable temperature. The room small and dismall, and it looked clean enough but so out of date. And very small. The bathroom looked OK clean, but the large shower needs re grouting and new sealant as they were scarred with black mould. I know it has been a very bad time for hotels, and investment money is rare, but maybe a few tins of paint could help. All in all, would I go back? Sorry no
