Tucked away in a luxury apartment complex five minutes from Aldgate station, Amber is a Middle Eastern all-dayer, offering a menu of sharing plates. The modern space is light and airy, with bamboo furniture and hanging house plants creating a relaxed vibe. Come dinnertime, the open kitchen turns out a run of delectable small plates, starting with the likes of crispy squid dipped in harissa mayo, and charcoal-baked bread with lashings of soft butter. Next up come more substantial takes, including a plate of warm and doughy pide which arrives stuffed with uber-fresh cubes of feta and spicy chorizo, completed by an assembly of veg: velvety caramelised onions, bursts of cherry tomato and goats’ cheese. Elsewhere, meltingly-soft pork belly is topped with crispy crackling and bitter bundles of kimchi, while for dessert, there are daily-changing options from the kitchen, or you can opt for a slice of homemade cake from the counter.

Tucked away five minutes from Aldgate station, Amber is a Mediterranean & Middle Eastern
all-dayer. The modern space is light and airy, inspired by a Midsummer garden with Olive ash award winning furniture, hanging house plants, wall mounted terracotta planters and globe pendant lights to large-scale round mirrors. The blend of raw finishes, basic materials and simple shapes make for a sophisticated feel and creates a relaxed vibe. Amber is staying true to the philosophy of eating around the Middle East & Mediterranean, where dining is an experience to be shared with friends, family, lovers, something that brings you closer together and reminds us of the real meaning of breaking bread.

May 2024I’ve dined here 4 times now, and have not been disappointed in any way. The place is super cute, with very friendly staff. The staff will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have what you need. The food is well thought out, and just all around exceptional. The small plate chicken , the glazed lamb shoulder, and the butternut squash are not to be missed.

June 2024As a Asian woman travel alone in London, my recent solo dining experience at this restaurant was utterly unacceptable. Despite sitting alone, there were plates for two left on my table throughout the meal. While other tables were served right away, I asked the waiter for water. Furthermore, unlike other guests, even water wasn’t poured for me. Later, another server inquired if I was waiting for someone, which I wasn't. And only then did the waiter remove the extra plates from the table. Finally, upon leaving, I thanked the staff member at the door, but received no response. This experience was a stark disappointment, especially considering it was my first meal in London. It left me feeling unwelcome and disregarded as a customer. I was very upset and felt like I was being racially discriminated against by the stark difference in service compared to other customers. If you excuse that what I experienced was not racial discrimination, then everything I experienced must have happened to other ‘Western customers’ as well. Think about it one more time.
