Beautiful and peaceful. Those are the two words describing the place. That is before large groups arrive or a noisy yappy dog resides next door. We had a lux room, and it was all we needed to feel comfortable and relaxed. The four poster bed was very comfortable, and I loved the added thought of the ladder. I am not very tall, so I was definitely grateful for it. We loved seating in the armchairs (very comfortable too) and just enjoying the view nursing a hot drink, compliments of the hotel. We had fresh milk and water in the fridge every day. Sadly, we didn't have a full view from both of the chairs. Whilst one of us could enjoy the beautiful grounds, the other had to face the building roof... The bed could also be turned to the opposite wall, which would allow us to wake up facing the grounds rather than the roof of the other buildings. The rest of the hotel is beautiful and has many areas to relax, all in keep with the style of the place. The dose are so very welcomed here. There was a doggy welcome gift in our room. The biscuits have been very much appreciated by Lola, our dog. The ball provided her with loads of entertainment, too. The best part of our stay was the staff! Very polite and attentive but never in your face and not over familiar. I have not once been called "darling" or "lovely" or whatever belittling name I would hate. The spa area is very small, but nice. I didn't like the fact I had to go outside and cross the road to get there. Also, there are no bathing suit driers in the changing rooms. Wrapping in a fluffy robe to pop to the spa is not an option. I was also not that keen on having to book the slot as it takes the spontaneous and relaxing feel away. But I understand it is necessary because of the small size of it, it helps avoid overcrowding. Again, the staff was lovely and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcomed... The brasserie is nice and the food is delicious. A bit on the higher price range, but it is in keeping with the rank of the hotel. I know the times are about comfort, but I think smart dress code for the guests would be added bonus for the general feel. I wouldn't wish to comment on some of the guests' dress choices, but a little effort beyond scruffiness may have been good. The hotel is very close to Skipton, which is a lovely town and offers a nice day out. I would love to return soon. It is definitely highly recommended

Lovely setting. Very attentive staff overall. Sunday roast beef @ £27 was very disappointing quality. Served luke warm, roast potatoes were hard and not proper roasts. Veg was meagre and not fresh. Yorkshire pudding was dry. When asked how our meal was, we mentioned that it was luke warm. The head waitress said it was the temperature outside affected the food during delivery. (Rubbish) No proper resolution was offered. On this visit and experience, we sadly can't recommend the food.

We had 2 nights here, The location was amazing we loved it. The rooms was okay but Tv didn’t work correctly and the room service wasn’t great. My partner ordered a drink to the room and waited over 2 hours. I had to go and remind them about the order and then eventually we got the drink we was waiting for. The food in the restaurant was average I wouldn’t say it’s worth the money that’s for sure. The service was okay when we first arrived but after ordering they didn’t clear the plates or ask if you wanted another drink. We got our food and we asked for forks and knives as they hadn’t been placed on the table before had but then we had to wait 5 minutes before we actually got them which wasn’t great. Not usually one to write bad reviews but just wasn’t great for the amount of money it was.
