A superb performance experience for a dinner for 5 of us from start to finish. Unusually good value, but exceptional food on the set menu and service just how it should be when things are perfect. Thank you very much

I have not stayed in the hotel but have been a few times for the Sunday lunch. Excellent service, atmosphere and food. The set menu is reasonably priced for the whole experience. It is nice to go on special occasions to celebrate with family and friends. The restaurant manager and all staff are very professional.

As a frequent traveler from the United States, I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience at The Petersham Hotel in Richmond. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel to fellow Americans or anyone who values comfort during their stay. Firstly, the lack of air conditioning in any of the rooms is a significant drawback. If you are visiting during warmer months or simply enjoy a cool, comfortable environment, you will find The Petersham sorely lacking in this basic amenity. The food at the hotel is mediocre at best. Despite the picturesque setting, the dining experience does not match the expectations set by the hotel’s appearance. Furthermore, the service is outdated and not up to modern hospitality standards. Even with a “Do Not Disturb” sign prominently displayed, the staff seemed oblivious, repeatedly interrupting our attempts to sleep in or get work done. It appears they do not grasp the concept of respecting their guests’ privacy. While the hotel itself is visually appealing, the price you pay does not justify the discomfort and inconveniences you endure. Every small service comes with an additional charge, likely because not many guests choose to stay longer than one night. If you are looking for a better option, there is a hotel just a three-minute walk up the hill that offers a more updated experience, superior amenities, and great value for money. Save yourself the trouble and discomfort – avoid The Petersham and opt for a more accommodating stay elsewhere.
