This rustic-style wine bar, shop and kitchen in one of Tooting’s two indoor markets is the first static site for its owners, enthusiastic oenophiles Laura and Kiki. The pair met while working at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen and started hosting wine evenings – A Grape Night In. As with that pop-up, the focus here is on ‘selling wine that over-delivers for the price paid’. From a concise themed menu (changed monthly to coincide with the arrival of a new guest chef), standouts include prime Puglian Negroamaro (red); a subtle Arbois vin jaune that tastes of spiced pear, ginger and almond; and South African orange wine, Testalonga ‘El Bandito’ Skin Contact. Wines complement inexpensive dishes such as a hot and sour broth of squid, mussels and turnip; leek and taro tart with pear and pickled mushrooms; cheeseboards; and chef’s pudding (rhubarb, goats’ cheese, white chocolate and shiso, say) – served Thursday to Sunday.

Fantastic little wine place with wines you can't even find on Vivino! The host is super friendly and knowledgeable too on all things wine.

Really great wines which the staff will tell you about when you order. Prices aren’t bad for the quality. Shame it shuts quite early.

I love it here but hadn't been since before the pandemic. I'm so glad it has survived. It's a real foodie treat. I definitely recommend booking in advance as it gets busy. It's very popular! They change the chef's every few weeks so the menu changes regularly. It's only ever a small menu and it's sharing plate style, but there are always vegan options. This month, it's an Indian chef but the food he served was nothing like I've ever had before. Absolutely delicious! Wines are recommended for each dish and they're always spot on. There's also a theme to the wine choice too and at the moment, it's the weather. So there's bit of a story with your choice of wine which adds to the experience. The place is only small. I don't know how the chef or the waiting staff cope! I'll definitely be back soon.
