Lovely hotel, right next to the Avon Gorge and with amazing views of the Suspension Bridge. The rooms are very modern and well appointed. I like the bathroom and the underfloor heating and electronic shower controls were a nice touch. The breakfast was tasty, but expensive (£14 extra) and the service was slow.

Comfortable room and good breakfast. The hotel is on a few levels, so there are a number of steps up and down to get to some rooms. Good view of the suspension bridge from the restaurant.

I'm staying at the hotel tonight. When we arrived there was just one person on reception. They were busy on the phone so we waited.......it took approx 15 minutes before they started the check in process, the card machine was not working so the details had to be typed in manually and when that was completed we were told we would have to be escorted to our rooms and they were a bit of a walk from reception. As we were going out and tight for time we left our luggage and said we would collect the keys and luggage on our return. When we arrived back there was no one on reception. Someone came to help after a few minutes, got our keys and took us to our rooms on the ground floor.....back out through the front doors onto the street and up the road to another entrance which has a number lock but we do not have the number lock, only the hotel staff have it, so if we want to get to reception we need to go to the first floor and back down to reception or we can go outside but cannot get back in without a member of staff. Having searched the room there are no TV controls so I called reception. It rang for 4 minutes on the internal number but no reply so I tried calling from my mobile and managed to eventually get an answer. I asked where the tv controls might be and was told they might be in the wardrobe, I hadn't considered looking there but when I did, no TV controls. The chap on reception said "oh dear, I will try to get some to you in 5 minutes". Almost 15 minutes later no TV controls so I called reception, they just hung up. I called again and just as they answered a nice man turned up with TV controls and asked me for the old ones in exchange....... Needless to say I am not impressed so far, check in and reception are core elements of a hotels services, controls for the TV are a pretty easy thing to ensure are in the room when it's cleaned I would have thought......Not reflecting the four star rating it is supposed to have.

Lovely hotel, nice comfortable rooms, great lounge area with a cracking view. I was happy that the snow made me stay a second night! Only bit about my stay that stopped me giving five stars was the surly waiter In the restaurant, we hadn't booked a table but the place was empty so didn't think it would be a problem. His attitude was at odds with every other member of staff we spoke to during our stay, he seemed genuinely annoyed that we had not booked and was pretty rude throughout. Saying that, I don't think we had special treatment from him, he looked that miserable and rude everyone we saw him during our stay! Despite his best attempts to make guests feel unwelcome, I can't wait to come back for another stay here
