One of the most popular places in Cardiff with their beautiful Rooftop Terrace.
The Botanist is a botanical restaurant on Church Street, serving international inspired dishes, hosting live music and beautiful cocktails. Incorporating fauna and a simple décor, the brand have made a name on Instagram with features such as white washed walls, an abundance of plant life, and simple wooden chairs.
The menu caters for all diets, from vegan to meat-eater, as well as boasting signature hanging kebabs and puddings such as baked chocolate chip cookie dough, not to mention their Group Dining Menu perfect for family get togethers or work celebrations. Cocktails are as delicious as they look, the drinks have a gin-heavy slant. Along with consuming them, you can also take part in a cocktail masterclasses- perfect for hen dos, birthday celebrations or team building activities.
Located on the top floor of the venue with beautiful inside setting perfect for socialising with also access to The Terrace and a private bar. This would be completely private.
Our intimate bar provides the perfect setting for networking events, birthday celebrations, and a host of other special occasions.

We charge full price for the The Terrace, where all payments would go towards an exceptional buffet and welcome drink and a bar tab with an option to include extras from live music, DJ and cocktail masterclasses.

As The Terrace is not covered, we will always have a Plan B in place to make sure the event can still go ahead.

October 2023First time to this restaurant and I was surprised how big it was. I liked the deco and amount of seating. Staff were polite. I can't say the service was over quick once you placed your order but were were not in a rush so it was fine. Nice menu but not many vegan options but I had the cauliflower burger which was really good. Nice selection of cocktails and drinks. So all in all a pleasant experience and will go again.

December 2023Came here for a Christmas party, the decor is gorgeous and the actual design of the restaurant is lovely (especially with all the Christmas decorations too). The food was a set 3 course meal (please ensure you read the small print when booking as sometimes you can only get 3 course instead of the 2 course option), I had sweet potato & goat’s cheese tart (5⭐), turkey kebab (3⭐), and the cookie dough pie (4⭐). I can’t recommend the sweet potato & goat’s cheese tart enough, the turkey kebab was okay but required a lot of chewing and felt like more of a ‘wow factor’ through how it looked than how it tasted, and the cookie dough pie was lovely but very filling! Overall, a great place to come for a Christmas party, the staff were very friendly and the place itself was really nice.

November 2023Great selection of cocktails, would highly recommend the vegan houmous starter, a generous amount of houmous! They had unfortunately run out of the vegan hanging meatballs so I switched to the katsu curry which was nice but would be better with more sauce. The vegan cauliflower burger was good, would have been better a bit warmer but the chips were defo the best! Lovely and crispy Good atmosphere and decor

November 2023Don't eat here if your vegan. I'm vegetarian and my mother is lactose intolerant so I didn't care so much personally but my mother ordered a vegan burger to be safe and informed the staff she was allergic to cows milk products. The kitchen staff came out and told us they use the same fryer to cook a lot of the food including cheese. We risked it as we had been waiting a while and were hungry and luckily my mother wasn't ill after but if they are frying the vegan food with non vegan food. Then the vegan food is not vegan. Other than that it's a lovely restaurant and the staff are very polite and friendly.
