Used an Accor member offer for a few days break, and took a friend who also loved it. All the staff, (in reception, restaurant, bar, cleaning people) were super helpful, chatty and likeable throughout our stay. The hotel was warm and the bedroom heating system was very responsive (late November) and the bed was comfortable. New bedroom curtains with excellent fitting to exclude morning light. Excellent breakfasts, lunches and evening meals. Good menu selection. This was not my first visit and we shall be returning.

This is second-hand information as it was not me who stayed there but a good friend. He said that the rooms were cold and so was the bar and restaurant area. Yes, we are living in austere times but you are supposedly a top hotel. Pull your socks up! Both literally and metaphorically!

The overall experience of the two-night stay was disappointing and I would not recommend it. We were asked by the manager to pay for the entire stay when we were checking in, even though the hotel holds my credit card details for the reservation. Payment was taken from my card on the second day without the courtesy of informing me. We found out there was no electricity in our room after checking in. The bathroom hasn't been cleaned as a result, but the manager refused to change the room for us. When the electricity was finally back on, the receptionist was acting surprised that we still requested for the bathroom to be cleaned! The common areas of the hotel have been refurbished, but the bathroom in our room is still very old and tired. Neither the LED mirror or the extractor fan were working. The condition of the changing room in the swimming pool is worse than a local leisure centre. None of the lockers have working keys. The reasons for more than 0 stars are that most staff are helpful and friendly; the variety of breakfast choices is not extensive, but the quality is decent.

The hotel is almost amusingly bad. The rooms aren't Mercure standard. Very tired. Repainted but no pictures or art work on the walls at all. No in-room information pack. No coffee machine. No coffee machine in the Breakfast Room either. And the Breakfast Room ceiling leaked so we were walking around buckets. The actual breakfast was a million miles off what we've come to expect from Mercure. Really limited choice of everything. The bacon was far too salty, the yoghurt was cheap. To cap it all off there were no mattress protectors on our bed so we could feel every spring. We went to reception to be told that there was no Housekeeping available so they let us in to another room so we could get what we needed and then we went back and remade the bed in the first room ourselves. We picked up some hangers as well as the first room we were in only had 1. Just comically bad. The staff however were brilliant, which is the only reason you scored more than 1. We stay in Mercure Hotels a lot and this is easily the worst experience we've ever had.

Good location close to seafront. Stayed in several Mecure hotels across Europe. This one really lets the brand down in several areas. Dated overall, bad plumbing / heating. Mould in bathrooms. cleanliness of beds. Sound between rooms. Breakfast is awful (coffee is worst I've ever had) but they do have a paid espresso option. I could go on but doubt owners will do anything about it.
