Located in Walker House, a lovely stone-clad building within the famous Exchange Flags area of Liverpool, El Gato Negro Tapas is a great venue. From our restaurant and bar, you can enjoy stunning views of the iconic Nelson monument and Liverpool Town Hall. Inside, our restaurant has an elegant open-plan design and offers a variety of dining and drinking choices. The interior is beautifully decorated with a floral theme and a touch of Spanish summer nights, featuring a gorgeous botanical tree and warm glass orb lighting at the center. If you prefer dining outdoors, we have a fully covered and heated patio area where you can enjoy tapas al fresco.
With our private dining room hire experience, your party will be hosted by personal waiting staff throughout; we ensure you have everything you need at hand to enable you and your guests to enjoy the occasion. The dining room can accommodate 12-18 people maximum and can be catered to host birthday celebrations, hen/stag do's, wedding celebration meals and business events, with our fully accessible flat screen TV that can be modified for online presentations and various other forms of media to suit any occasion. For certain reservations we require payment card details to secure your booking. These details are securely kept with a third party called Stripe and will only be charged if the cancellation terms are not met. We ask for 24 hours notice of a cancellation or reduction in numbers, and reservations that fail to give this notice will automatically incur a £15pp fee Please do not arrive with more people in your party than you have booked for; we cannot guarantee availability All tables are allocated a 2 hour dining time Please contact us if you are running late; we can hold a table for 15 minutes but will have to release it if we haven’t heard from you

February 2024This is a rare throwback to a restaurant that has brilliant service and doesnt rush you off your table. From the moment we arrived the staff were professional but very accomodating amd welcoming, allowing us to take our time to order, enjoy our food and drinks and regularly checking in on us (not rushing us off our table). Food quality was really good (only letdown was octopus that was overcooked) but the salt cod croquettes were superb. Lovely ambience and atmosphere.

March 2024Great place, have been here numerous times for dinner and bottomless brunch. The food and service is always second to none! Thank you so much, I’d recommend this place to anyone. Shout out to Pablo who has been my server a number of times and is consistently fabulous. Gorgeous place, gorgeous staff!

March 2024Nice, but not amazing tapas. Most dishes were good, some very good, but it all felt a bit expensive. Service was attentive and quick.
