The Connaught, Mayfair Room
Carlos Place, London, W1K 2AL -
Up to
200 standing
Luxury at this five-star hotel comes with a degree of restraint that’s nicely exercised, for example, in the sleek art deco interior of the Mayfair Room, the largest of the hotel’s event spaces. This room can hold 200 for a reception or 120 theatre style. The light-filled Carlos Room holds up to 40 guests and can be used alone, or in conjunction with the Regency Room for cocktail receptions, intimate weddings and dinners. There are also three smart meeting rooms and the Sommelier’s Table, which is a private dining room that seats eight people and is stocked with more than 6,000 bottles of vintage wine.

Didn't stay at the hotel, but had a couple of martinis at the bar. First up, it's a very swanky place, a beautiful building. The bar is incredibly popular and gets very busy, and it's usually not possible to reserve a table, however you can stand at the bar and have a drink while you are waiting for one to free up, and the staff will help with that. The martinis themselves were excellent; it seems they are constantly experimenting with new ideas and flavours. The staff were friendly and helpful and overall it was a lovely experience. The atmosphere is great. It's not snooty like a certain place nearby known for its martinis (Dukes). Would definitely recommend.

Great service - thanks Faron at the front desk. She kept the venue very well regulated and was able to provide us a table when available. Professional and courteous! Overall excellent cocktails. I enjoyed just the simple straight vodka martini over the Number 11. Drinks were decently strong and very unique mixes. Comfortable seating, kind staff, and great selection. Premium pricing!

We went there for cocktails. Service was great. A gentlemen from the crew helped us to choose our cocktails and they were fab. I’d higly recommend having oysters too

Historic hotels are rare. Historic hotels that lean into their history while at the same time offering all of the pleasantries of modernity are even rarer. The Connaught is exactly that—that rare combination of old and new, charm and elegance. On top of which: the service, the bars, the restaurants are all top shelf. Now, against all that, what puts this classy establishment into a league of one are all the little touches they offer and extend to children to make their stay extra special. Simply put, the best.

I love capturing Mayfair's beauty for our clients, but I've had mixed experiences here. Twice, I was met with hostility for taking photos—once even shouted at. I don't get the vibe; it feels unwelcoming. On the flip side, the cake shop staff were lovely, a real contrast to the hotel staff's rudeness. Just wish everyone was as nice as the cake shop crew 😊
