Had a one night stay with spa access, a treatment, dinner and breakfast. It was fantastic. Highly recommend for a special treat. Only feedback, and it's minor, is there's no ambient music playing at dinner/ in the bar / at breakfast, which would add to the atmosphere. Everything else impeccable.

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Alexander House. I had booked this as a surprise birthday treat for my partner. The room was decorated so nicely with balloons and a little treat for my partner so it was a very nice touch. The room was exceptionally clean and larger than I had expected so loved the room. There wasn't a view out of the room (just looked into another building), but least we got plenty light coming in. The Spa was very beautiful, well maintained and clean. Plenty towels provided in the changing rooms as well as soaps, shampoo, conditioner and body cream were provided so this was very handy. I had initially booked for dinner for one night as the second night I was going to take my partner out, but due to the snow, we had dinner on both nights and we had a wonderful experience. The staff were exceptionally lovely and bubbly, and definitely made my partners birthday very special. The food was very nice too. We ordered breakfast in bed on our first morning. Great service, but just a little side note on how much cooked breakfast to order. Can't get too many as it will be added as an extra charge. Something that wasn't stated on the card when filling out the form, but other than that, everything else was perfect. Second breakfast, we went to the restaurant and received exceptional service from Lily. On the whole, it was a really lovely, relaxing and chill experience. We loved our time there and hope to go again soon.

Hi Went with my partner seeking a romantic date celebrating our 1st anniversary of being together. Making the reservation was not complicated, straightforward. While I was making the reservation, I mentioned that we are celebrating our 1st anniversary. Hoping that the hotel will help to make the date more special for my partner and I, which a detail that a five Red Star Hotel should not miss in my opinion. I am saying this as I used to be in the hospitality industry and worked in Five Red Star hotels. One of the rules I learned is attention to details, as the aim is to make the experience of each guest a unique experience; which will not be found elsewhere. Do not get me wrong, please staff were very welcoming and helpful starting from the reception all the way to the table. We have been introduced to the Valentine menu which consists of six or seven tasting courses I believe, the food was great and also thanks to the chef for replacing one of the dishes for my partner, it was a nice touch from her. ( we were the first booking and the first table arrived, so halfway through the service we had to wait longer for the next tasting plate to come, but it is okay.) We continued on the tasting courses all the way to deserts and here I was waiting for the Five-Star touch or the wow factor, and come the importance of preparation and going through guests lists and details to see if there is any special celebration is taking place. Unfortunately, we finished our meal and left as any other couples around us. I wrote this review because I know how important reviews are in hospitality for improvement and development. Best wishes

Stayed here a few weeks ago and felt I should get round to writing a review. The hotel is quite nice but this is not a 5 star hotel. The spa facilities are nice but the seating and cushions around the pool let it down. I had a facial that was £130 and it was such a disappointment. It was meant to be 50 minutes, I was in and out in about 45mins, it was no where near worth that price, it was rushed, basic and when I told the staff at checkout i got nothing except 'oh sorry about that'. At dinner I was rushed again when the restaurant was empty and the staff just wanted to chat amongst themselves in the little staff room that is visible to diners. For these reasons, I would not stay again and I'm really gutted about the facial. This was my one night away from the kids for some pampering but I couldn't wait to leave really.

Yesterday 3 friends and I visited the spa for a full day. Overall we felt the spa was very tired and was in need of updating and a safety issue needing to be looked at asap. Firstly, there was a hole in the ceiling of the pool area where water was dripping through along with a lot of water dripping from one of the spotlights in a similar area of the pool - very dangerous! Also within the pool area there were lots of missing tiles in the hot tub & pool and everything just seemed a bit grubby. The outdoor hot tub was disappointing as the bubble jets were not working, along with the outdoor sauna was closed too. After our treatments (which were good), we went into the relaxation room and went to get a herbal tea. We were told however these were chargeable at £2.30 per tea, as only the welcome hot drink was included in the price. This seemed unfair that these were an additional charge given the cost of our day was £230 per person! We enjoyed our lunch in the restaurant - the food was very tasty, however we found the 2 course lunch options very limited. The starter options were 2 different soups, only. And there were no pudding options. To me this is not a choice menu. After we asked if we could have pudding instead of soup, we were told yes and that they would be included in the price - however on check out the pudding prices were on our bill. These were removed, however we all felt it was not 5* offerings/services. Sadly we all left disappointed and that with some of the facilities not working we didn’t get our moneys worth.
