Lovely little theatre, intimate but well appointed. Plenty of bars which is good when you have limited time but I would recommend ordering your interval drinks in advance. Air-conditioning is good too. Great venue.

I visited here in May 2024 to see Operation Mincemeat. It is one of the smaller theatres in London, so wherever you sit feels quite close to the stage, but also means your view is likely to be blocked by those in front, which meales the uniform pricing structure at each performace unfair.

The Fortune Theatre was the first West End theatre opened in London following the First World War. It might not have the size, comfort and grandeur of its compatriots, especially Theatre Royal Drury Lane right across from it, but it more than makes up for it with the shows it hosts. The seats are quite small and have limited legroom. I am fairly comfortable in them but have seen many others have to sit sideways or at least tuck their legs up tightly just to fit in. This is why, although I have so, so many beautiful memories in this theatre, I must take off a star. The Fortune is currently home to “Operation Mincemeat”, a comedy musical based on the famous World War II deception operation. Put your doubts aside; it is utterly magnificent stuff, and is now an Olivier-winning production. Please, please do not miss it if you are in the West End!
