With a refreshed look and feel, Opera Tavern is a buzzy and inviting tapas bar and restaurant in the heart of Covent Garden's theatreland. Downstairs, striking graphic prints by the likes of Ben Eine complement the stylish bar, counter seating, and communal table, with a warm and atmospheric first-floor dining space above. whilst a quick venture upstairs reveals a dining room decked out with polished plaster walls, a gold-leaf ceiling, and large sash windows to create an intimate space perfect for hosting a private get-together.
The team at Opera Tavern has pulled out all of the stops to provide guests with as authentic tapas experience as you are likely to find in the city. Iberico sourced from Spain accompanies thoughtfully sourced meats from around the country, whilst the wine list is made up of exclusively Spanish and Italian imports. There's also a strong list of spirits to choose from, with brandies, whiskies, and no less than ten variants of sherry available to guests. Perfect to stop in and enjoy a pre-theatre tipple, the location of the venue mirrors the quality of the food, drink, and décor to create an all-around stylish establishment.
La Scala Room on the first floor can be hired for private events and can accommodate up to 42 seated guests or 45 standing. This amazing space allows you to play your own personal music and has a screen/projector available upon request and has its own private bar making the perfect place for a private event.
There are multiple group set menus available for private parties which feature an array of Salt Yard’s most popular tapas dishes and are designed to be shared by the whole group.
Our team is happy to assist with any additional requirements such as flowers, name cards, personalized menus and wine selection.

Absolutely stellar experience at Opera Tavern! The food was beyond delicious, every bite bursting with flavor. The ambiance was charming and inviting, perfect for a cozy meal. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for top-notch cuisine in London! About the menu? Exceptional service, the staff here are absolutely brilliant. You are welcomed in to this dimly lit and cosy venue with a smile and you can expect friendly and professional service throughout. Our waitress gave us excellent recommendations of food and wine and they all seem to know the menu very well without the need to oversell anything. They were so accommodating and it feels like they genuinely want you to enjoy your whole experience. Came here with a group of friends and we all had the chefs tasting menu and ordered a couple of additional recommended dishes. All the tapas here is delicious and served to look as good as it tastes. I knocked off a star for my food rating but only because I was left a little disappointed with the dessert! I have such a sweet tooth and the churros on the set menu were a little greasy and not coated evenly or very well with cinnamon and sugar, although the chocolate and the lemony mascarpone they were served with were both delicious. We also ordered a pistachio tiramisu which didnt taste of much at all and so was a bit disappointed with that. Overall though, this is a great date night or group night out! The atmosphere is so nice and cosy and relaxing. The music isnt too loud and every thing is just right. I think it would also be great to hire out the upstairs as it is a nice sized room, with a projector screen available and a separate bar. Also extremely good value for money. The tasting menu was £40pp and there was plenty of food. None of us left hungry! The yellow tail tuna was to die for!
