I was there for my son's wedding and it was a fabulous day. The staff were lovely and so very helpful. We were there for 2 nights and the room was comfortable and clean. We used the restaurant in the evening (Harry's Bar)and the breakfast room (1911). Both were fabulous and food was delicious. Lovely setting and walks around the grounds. Perfect for weddings. Made the photos look stunning. Thank you for an amazing stay.

The simple, and nicely appointed. The grounds were very, very nice and my wife - who reads a lot of English literature - was very happy. For me, the exercise room was uncommonly good. But the reserved food dinner service took an hour to get to our table, and wasn't quite hot. It was the slowest kitchen ever. But the breakfast buffet was very good.

Pros: - Nice ground Cons: - Only stayed in the classic double as we were only there for one night. Only passing by to to drive up further north. - The room was very small. It had a small double bed and only had 2 pillows- so only had one pillow each as there were 2 of us! - No mini fridge - Hotel complimentary kept to the bare minimum- no slippers, no handwash (bar of soap was provided but not very hygienic), no other toiletries, no face towel. - The room was also far away from the reception/ restaurant. - No information folder in the room regarding hotel facilities, their opening times, no restaurant menu etc. This could be made available digitally to be sustainable. - Breakfast was okay. No non-dairy alternatives and the breakfast room was very cold. - Spa was small, it was crowded and there were only 6 of us that time when we went. Only 6 loungers available so you sometimes have to fight for it. - No Jacuzzi. The spa room was also very hot. I think there are issues with the temperature in the hotel as the breakfast room was very cold, as mentioned previously. - Lastly, before checking out, we were running late and had called reception if we were allowed to check out half an hour later as I had a work meeting that was running late. The receptionist said that this would cost us £10, so I had to end my meeting and rush to the reception to check out on time. - For a 4-star hotel, you would expect some leniency given that we were checking out on a Monday morning, no events were taking place, so it was not busy at all. - I’ve brought this issue up to the receptionist and she said it’s the hotel’s policy to charge £10 per hour if you do decide to check out later than 11. However, this was not mentioned over the phone and we’ve only asked for a leeway of half an hour as our room was also far away from the reception. - Overall, I’m surprised this hotel is ranked as a 4-star hotel. You get better treatment/facilities in a 3-star hotel. I definitely would NOT stay here again nor would I recommend it.
